 Re: Tx opener
We do open this weekend. Bird reports are pretty thin. Hopefully these two fronts push some more down.

 Re: Tx opener
Hell it's 25 more days to go here before it opens. I wish it would open about the 15 of Dec and runn about another 2 weeks into Feb.

What's even more retarded than opening this weekend is having the youth hunt last weekend.

 Re: Tx opener
Doesn't Texas have a 75 day season though? Y'all still run to the end of January?

 Re: Tx opener
Yep. Until the end of January.
I don't think it's 75 days... I want to say low 60s on the days. Each zone is closed for almost 2 weeks in early December.
We have whatever the maximum numbers of days the Government allows.

The cold weather that is coming should (hopefully) push a bunch of birds down.

 Re: Tx opener
Can't hunt into feb. Ducks start pairing up, and won't find another mate for nesting. That's the reason they give for not hunting past end of jan.

I'm not hunting this weekend most likely but I fished all over my spots today and it looks promising for the weekend. The cold front can only help.

 Re: Tx opener
Didn't realize so many folks from Texas were on here. In the SE marsh looking like its going to be another teal season with a few redheads maybe. Been scouting the past 2 mornings/ 3afternoons finally found a decent bunch for tomorrow morning. Though will probably a lot more folks hunting than birds down

Got a 3 man limit of teal in 10 minutes this morning in the SETX marsh. Only time I've seen teal like that was in the rice.

good thing we shot em cause the only big'ens we saw was 1 group of pintail sky high. I was really surprised we only saw 1 or 2 mottleds. They are usually everywhere opening day, especially since you cant shoot'em

 Re: Tx opener
2 man limit Saturday in 15 minutes and 3 man limit took a little longer on Sunday maybe an hour.
Mostly Teal, Spoonies, Gadwalls, Pintail wouldn't commit but gave us some looks.
We need more rain at our place.
