Indian Bayou WMA News Flash:

Well, well it finally happened. Word around the campfire is that quite a few hunters were cited for hunter harassment on Indian Bayou WMA because they tried to intimidate plain clothes Wildlife and Fisheries agents into getting out of "their blinds" after having been given the opportunity to move on. Thank you La. Wildlife and Fisheries!!!!!! Awesome job!!! Well done!

Now, when you are flashed, I don't care if you built a brush blind or not, move on or risk saying hello to a wildlife agent. The rule is first to arrive hunts the spot. And get this, on School Board property, if I'm set up in a spot which happens to be right in front of one of those permanent floating blinds, because its on state land, if you arrive after me, you must move more than 500' feet away to set up....that is state law on state land. So, everyone is now welcome to hunt school board property anywhere you want. One caveat, however, until the legal issue is settled, one should not enter into one of those permanent blinds; just hunt in front or next to it. Eventually, the permanent blinds will cease to exist. Make yourself at home using their 10 dozen permanently placed decoys, too.

Were they actually there as hunters or did they set up a trap pretending to be hunters? If so how were any hunters harassed?

If this case is that they were just out there taking up spots that could be hunted so that hunters were not able to hunt them, then I ask you who is actually harassing hunters here?

I don't know all the details, but I presume plain clothes agents were used. It would have been too obvious otherwise.

One of my buddy's showed up to his blind that he's been hunting for 5 years with no problems at 3:30 am and somebody was in his blind. He had a conversation with them then another guy that my buddy's freinds with pulls up to see if he can hunt with my buddy cause somebody was in his blind to so they went back to the other blind together to take some brush off the blind that they brushed so that they could hunt and the guys in both blinds were agents and wrote them both tickets for hunter harassment when all they wanted to do was take some of their brush back after they got screwed out of all their blinds they made witch is bull shit. so sum everything up wlf agents went take everybody's blinds one morning and wrote bull shit tickets to shut dean up. Good job dean

If I were to go sit in someone's blind without a gun and with no intent to hunt in order to get a reaction out of them would I be harassing hunters?

Dean I might not be as old as you but trust me I'm probably more experienced than you. The people that got tickets did nothing wrong. They got tickets for holding a normal conversation and after they got their tickets the wlf said you can have the blind now

I don't understand how he didn't get beat up either.. You know its one thing for the hunter to not move on when someone is already in there spot. It's a completely different thing for a game warden to get inside someone's blind with no intention to hunt just to trap hunters. I promise that ticket will not hold up in court. And the brush thing I don't blame them. If I spent hours brushing a blind and someone was in it and I couldn't get anywhere else you're damn right I would get enough of my brush back to make a make-shift blind. It's people like you that don't want to work for anything that screw everything up for us normal people. I don't know how you just willing use other people's stuff knowing good and well you are doing it just to piss them off. Why didn't you just make a blind out there 30 years ago like everyone else? I promise if the shoe was on the other foot you would be the one bitching and complaining about people being in your blind.

I was one of the hunters who received a ticket for "harassment of persons lawfully hunting." Now I'm going to take my lick and admit I was wrong, but the way the game wardens went about citing me was by enticing a reaction out of me. When I pulled up to the blind (which was marked with illegal reflective markings), I wasn't even aware that someone was sitting in it. Keep in mind, I pulled up to the blind at 1:48 a.m., so to say that I am one of the "late, lazy, drunk, young hunters," is fucking ignorant. Now my friend had a blind built a ways away, so I made my way to him so that we could hunt his blind, no big deal. Wouldn't you know, his blind was occupied as well (also marked with illegal reflective markings). Now at this point, I was getting frustrated. I understand its first come first serve and respect that, but when you put effort into building a blind (sweating your fucking balls off getting the nut sucked out of you by mosquitos), you can understand my frustration. I told them they were lazy fucking people, and they went ahead and got rowdy as well, which lit a fire under my ass. So, I made my way back to the blind I built and began to pull brush from it. Yes, they asked me to stop, but like I told them, I had no intention of stripping the blind completely and ruining their hunt. I was going to leave them plenty to hunt, but take enough so that I could make a bullshit blind somewheres else and have the opportunity to hunt as well (win/win situation for both parties). After yanking a boat load (with plenty left for them), they finally say they are both game wardens as well as the individuals the other blind. They cited us, pulled their boat out, and left.

A few things I should note:

1.) Yes, I build a blind and hunt it often, but my ass is out there earlier than everyone. I have NEVER had an altercation with another hunter in the blind because no one has ever beat me to it in the last 3 years, and I hunt nearly every day.

2.) My citation is for "harassment of persons lawfully hunting." There were neither decoys nor guns present in their boat necessary for taking waterfowl. So, the citation contradicts itself off the top. I understand they were impersonating hunters, but they were in the blind without any intention of hunting. They were there strictly to entice a reaction out of a hunter and cite them for it.

3.) I've read the Indian Bayou WMA rules and regulations more than once and make sure to do so yearly. I understand that if someone is in your blind, they have all right to the spot, but there is nothing that I read that said it was illegal to remove brush from the blind. Yes, hunt the spot, but I don't see why the person should benefit from someone else's hard work. I didn't want the spot; I wanted the brush I placed out there. This is literally promoting laziness, but that's just my opinion.

Next time you decide to make a post about people that hunt the North Flats, keep in mind that not every fucking person is a young, ignorant hunter. I am a dedicated, law-abiding hunter that got set up and enticed into a citation, but like I said, I'm going to take my lick. I've met you before out there DGuidry, and we've had a few conversations. I was very respectful to you, but my friend you are a fucking dick. You like all the drama like a fucking bitch. I'm not sure if this is your half ass attempt to push undedicated hunters out of the North Flats, but I can tell you this, you'll still be seeing me out there. The entire time I, as well as my friends in the other boat, were in contact with the WLF, not once did ANY of us tell them to leave, claim either of the 2 blinds as OURS, or claim that the two areas were OUR spots. So your argument that people are "claiming spots" may apply to some people, but I am not one of them.

Next time you decide to make a post about people that hunt the North Flats, keep in mind that not every fucking person is a young, ignorant hunter. The hunter harassment law would be a statewide law. That's why it's not lined out, specifically, in the WMA rules. I'm not sure if you have a case,but I'd show up for the court date and plead with the judge.

Do they not have a rule on a certain time you can launch? I thought all WMAs have a certain time you cannot launch til..
Or is this not considered a WMA ?
And did you hunt the blind after the agents left dustin?

By no means am I saying I was in legal right to pull the brush, because I wasn't and know that now. My point is this, if a regular individual would have pulled into my blind with no intention of hunting, they would have been guilty of "harassment of persons lawfully hunting." I understand going undercover is needed at times, but this was a case of entrapment. I don't plan on pursuing it by any means, but I needed to clarify. Also, my friend and his younger brother received the same citation. My friend's brother said nothing to the wardens. I just think the whole situation was fucked up to be honest.
