Post 12 hp remote fuel pump. Problems. Help!!
I have a 12 hp let copperhead. Got tired of only being able to use half the tank and now I need the clearance of no tank and a rerouted muffler to get to a secret honey hole. I read on here and other sources about what I needed and how to do it. I bought a carb spacer with pulse fiting already installed, I bought a cheap pulse pump and a gas tank with primer bulb. Hooked it up like it's suppose to be and it will squeeze up until it's fairly firm and then excess will drain out over flow slot. It will fire right up like normal and if you peg it out it will run for about 25 seconds before starving out. If left idling it will run for at least 30 mins because that's how long I let it. The filter shows the pump pumping but it's weak. I've never done this so I don't know what it should look like, how hard it should pump or if the pulse fitting is to small. It runs perfectly fine when out riding if you give it a squeeze every 20 seconds or so. Is there something I'm missing. I don't know anybody who has the remote tank on one like this so I have nothing to compare it to. Any help is very appreciated. Deer season is this weekend and I need this little sucker going.

I had a 12hp with remote fuel. The only difference is I had the diaphragm pump that came with it. I notice mine doing the same thing at one point, and saw air bubbles in the gas line. I replaced the cheap hose clamps on the pump, and that solved the problem. Another thing you could try, is going down to a smaller gas hose. When I moved my tank to the front of the boat, that small pump couldn't keep up with the 5/8" hose that was on there, so I went to 5/16" and that solved the problem

I'm running remote fuel on my 23 copperhead. 5/8 hose is a little hard to believe it was running. I don't know many stock vehicles running fuel line that large. I could see 3\8 or 5/16.

I'm running 5/16 on my 1544 from the front deck to the pump. Pump is located under the hunt deck so I'm not pushing a lot of fuel. I'm pulling more fuel than its pushing.

I would take the bulb out of the equation if your running a auxiliary pump(if that's what your calling a pulse pump) Its pointless and somewhat restricting. I have heard they will not work with fuel pumps.

I never updated but I found and fixed the problem the new pump I bought was no good. Pulled pump off lawn mower with same pump and tried it and it worked perfect. Bought a new pump and haven't looked back.
