Post 23 hp Briggs Mods
Been reading quite a bit around here but looking for insight on the 23s specifically

Looking to add performance cam and mikuni carb to motor. Already have heads and exhaust done.

Any one have experience with these mods to the 23 vanny? I currently have a leaking case so I'm going to replace the cam for sure, but I've heard good things about precision, dyno, pvt, and bps. Anybody know first hand? Does the 308 +4 work good on the small block as well?

Also carb on that thing has given me issues from the beginning, I'm ready to just toss it and put the mikuni kit on it.

What gains did you see? Anybody dyno the 23s? Any help is appreciated! Thanks

I currently have my motor torn down I'm getting a billet cam through Jamie B at delta performance and he is putting his own timing marks on it.
I've heard of a few on here running the 308+4 dyno cams , I have the BPS mikuni carb kit on my motor now with heads worked and valves

Let me know how you like that cam.
Would you say the carb kit is worth it based on your gains?

redfish bandit - I'd be interested to see how the carb, heads, cam setup works out for you. Please post up as soon as it's done. Did you go with the Mikuni 34mm Carb from BPS?

Riverrambler - what speeds were you seeing with just the cam?

Decked heads installed cam and bypassed governor at same time so I couldn't tell you about cam alone.

I've got a 23, high rev coils, bps cam, Iron Mountain heads, rods and roller rocker, mikuni, and crossover exhaust. I will post a picture of speeds tomorrow on a 1642 prodigy with a new prop.

So I've read that flat slide mikuni are better, why are you guys using the round slides? Just to save some coin?
The BPS website says they use a 34 hsr in the kit for the 23 but there is no 34 hsr. Closest is a tmx33 I think which has the accelerator pump. Anybody try any of these??

The EVT kits came with the 33's. The 33 with the acc pump is a better option, IMO.
