Post Max RPMs without a Rev Limiter
Been wondering this lately, but what are the max RPM's without a Rev Limiter. Decked heads, exhaust I normally am between 4100 and 4200, but it jumped to over 4200 with a new prop. From what I have read here, seems like the limiter is needed for over 4350. Does that sound correct?

Thanks

I also have a habit to not run at WOT when running and if I do, I dont do it for very long, but I normally run between 4100 and 4200 previously if I was WOT

Factory valves and springs will usually float just above 4200. aside from the fear of dropping a pushrod etc you are likely not going to spin it high enough to sling a rod. .... but sometimes shit happens :D

nobody cuts grass at half throttle. run that biatch wfo. mine is old and I like to keep it under 4300 and run it like that all day. I put the high rev coils in last year or so and put the high rev valve springs. I spin it 4500+ in the mud when busting trail and don't think twice about it.
when u hear the valves making noise, just back off a tad. lol

Thanks guys, just a general question I have been wondering about. I just finally ordered the K & N filter instead of the Briggs. Will plan on the easy mod to the carb shield I have also read about here. Easy project for Spring since our season is almost over. Without some northern winds, though, this season will continue to suck.

So I figured out why my RPM's jumped by almost 100 RPMs. I forgot I just added the K & N air filter. :D

My first truck was a 4cylinder, 5 speed with no tach on the dash, I'd let it pull until I heard the valves float and then shift gears, finally got use to the sound and would shift right before they floated, put almost 200K miles on it. haha
