The new mud buddy 4400 black death comes with a chrome muffler. I was thinking about wrapping it like they do the motorcycle exhaust pipes. I figure it will hide the shinny chrome and dissipate the heat faster like it does on a motorcycle exhaust pipes,,,

Would there be anything negative about doing this?

It will heat soak the material even more than it already does then it will cause it to crack faster. run it a few hours and it will turn a brown color.

The wrap will also hold water and rott the exhaust!

Stainless mufflers will all eventually crack from the rapid heat cycles and vibrations. Leave the muffler alone. That is the last thing I'd be worried about.

The stainless comes in duck-flaring shiny, but will be brown in the first few hours of use.

It will brown faster if you brush some fry oil (peanut, canola, whatever) when it's cool a couple of times during your engine break in.

But it will also make you want to go get some fried chicken or catfish after you run it.

(It sounds ridiculous but it you want it to lose the shine, do it. It's cheap.)
