Re: Is the battery receiving charge ?
If you run for a while and you are running your lights and electrical accesories, if the battery dies and won't start the motor back then it's not charging. No clue on how to actually check it though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Re: Is the battery receiving charge ?
Couldn't you test the battery with a volt meter while its not running and then test it when it is running and see if its different

Re: Is the battery receiving charge ?
Put a meter to the battery read voltage(somewhere around 12.8vdc or higher means the battery is charged) start engine and then run it up to at least 1200 rpms or more, read voltage, if the charging system is working the voltage will be higher than you read before starting. The biggest draw most mud motors is the electric clutch, so take all reading with electric clutch engaged.

Re: Is the battery receiving charge ?
You are going to have to rev the motor at or above 2000 rpms to get it to read a charge. CDI motors have a charging system that charges at a lower rpm but i'm sure your 25 Kohler doesn't. If you stick your leads on the battery post and rev motor above 2000 it should read around 17-20 amps. Mine is a non cdi and when charging it reads 19.7 amps with a "20 amp charging system" changed it to amps def. not volts!

Re: Is the battery receiving charge ?
20vdc means something ain't right. On the current of a clutch, never checked it, just know ever time mine has had issues it is the switch. Third time replaced with a 30 amp rated one. The clutch, if not running anything else, is the only thing that is drawing on the charging and battery. I have a digital volt meter installed and the biggest drop in voltage is engaging the clutch. but then led lights never draw much either. (opps) that and then the amplifier for the tunes

Re: Is the battery receiving charge ?
The amplifier and lights should be drawing more than the clutch. Engaging a device that draws less than 4 amps shouldn't cause a voltage drop. Absolutely should not require a 30 amp switch. That is not supposed to be a heavy load. Put a meter on it and see what the problem is.
