 Need help
I am running a 36hp pro drive with a 18/48 prodrive x series. It has almost 300 hrs and I am just wondering if doing any mods at this stage in its life will still be worth it. I am only getting 24 mph bone dry and about 20 mph with a load. I just want a little bit more power I'm not trying to make it a speed boat.....looking to get 26-28 mph. Heads...cam...exhaust......carb what would be the best for a motor with 300hrs. Thanks in advance

 Re: Need help
IMO with that many hrs on motor, I don't think it would be a good Idea. Unless internal parts are checked out for wear. Added stress on a well broken in motor from heads, may end what usefull life is left in motor. And start causing problems.

 Re: Need help
I modded my motor at 275 hrs. I now have 350 with no issues. 17x48 prodrive. Ran 25 mph with me and 19-20 depending on load. After mods it runs 28 with me and 25 with me, wife, dog and hunt load. I did heads and cam, but I did not deck my heads just had a valve job done.

 Re: Need help
300 hours shouldn't be shit for hours on a lawn mower motor. Go ahead and get it done if you got the time and funds.

I second JB's sentiments... Don't go crazy, do a sensible build and you'll be pleased with it for many years to come!
