Modded big block GD longtail
So, just slapped my modded briggs power head on a godevil longtail frame to have something to hunt with after selling my old gtr frame while I continue plugging along on my next project. It's a piston/rod motor with most of the fixins, and a stock muffler right now.
Just ran it today, results follow. MM Brand: Godevil Longtail Horsepower: roughly stage 3 with stock muffler Boat Brand: Prodigy Boat Size: 1748 Boat Layout: open, with gunbox
Speeds | Shallow Water: no testing yet Speeds | Deep Water: 19mph with and against current Total Boat Load With Gear Etc: 4 people, all the standard hunt gear plus a dozen or 2 dozen decoys.
Speeds | Shallow Water: no testing Speeds | Deep Water: 26 mph against current, 28 with. Total Boat Load With Gear Etc: 1 person, all hunt gear still from 4 people.
Conditions Tested In: Bayou had current, noted on speeds. Negligible wind. 48 degrees. Carb needs a little jet work, prop is a worn 9x8. Will add notes when new props tested and carb tuned correctly and other loads tested.
Comments: Hops out of hole pretty well solo with the gear, gets going quickly with 4 just doesn't really hop out of the water until around 17. It's not a lot of boat lift for that kind of load. A new prop (10x8 or maybe 10x7 with some cup added) should help that some. Tach battery was mostly dead yesterday, forgot to pick up another. Really need to see what kind of rpms I'm turning to get the propping right. Pretty sure when I opened it up under load im all over 4700 or more. Feeling the slip solo and under load, I think there's a good bit more to be had loaded and solo than what I saw today as far as being able to plane out a little slower and pick up a bit of speed loaded (I'm not trying to run 30).

With 3 and 5 dozen decoys plus normal hunting gear today ran 23 steady, hopped out of the hole nicely.
