 Explosion on Deepwater Horizon
Guys,
I heard there was an explosion on the Transocean Deepwater Horizon offshore of Venice. I know most made it to the lifeboats, but it sounds like some are in the water.
I have deep ties to a lot of people on that rig. Please keep them and their families in your prayers.

 Re: Explosion on Deepwater Horizon
I saw some pictures that were taken at daylight and it was starting to list. The seas looked flat but the water is still in the low 70's.
I don't work for TO anymore but that was a good rig with some great people on it and supporting it in the office.
I pray that the missing are found, the wounded heal, and that they were able to shut the well in.

 Re: Explosion on Deepwater Horizon
NYT article..
"A spokesman for Plaquemines Parish said that the 11 missing workers had been found by rescuers before noon Central time, but a spokesman for the Coast Guard said he was not yet able to verify the rescue.
“Everybody’s accounted for” said Kurt Fromherz, the parish spokesman. “They were found in a life boat.”
Mr. Fromhertz added that the 11 people rescued were alive, but he did not know whether any of them were injured"
Hopefully they're alright.

 Re: Explosion on Deepwater Horizon
Conflicting reports.
From MSNBC:
NEW ORLEANS - The U.S. Coast Guard said oil workers missing after a rig explosion off Louisiana have not been found, contrary to a report by a local government official.
"We have not. We're still searching" for 12 workers, said U.S. Coast Guard Lt. Sue Kerver, noting that the Coast Guard is the lead agency for the search and rescue effort.
Plaquemines Parish President Billy Nungesser had earlier told NBC affiliate WDSU that he received reports that the 11 workers were alive and safe.

 Re: Explosion on Deepwater Horizon
My wife is the purchasing agent for that rig.
Intermoore has vessels on way to get the horizon. It will be anchored off of the coast of Pasagoula. The thrusters will be pulled, then it will go into drydock.

 Re: Explosion on Deepwater Horizon
Just saw FOX 8 and they said that the Coast Guard will continue to look through the night to find the missing workers. The also said the rig is starting to lean and that oil is leaking into the gulf. I surely hope that they are able to find those people.

 Re: Explosion on Deepwater Horizon
Does that mean that the particular life raft they've been looking for never made it off the platform?

 Re: Explosion on Deepwater Horizon
That is what was said. I was wondering how they could still be looken for a life raft. The life raft aboard all Of their vessels have Epirbs and GMDSS handhelds. I know this because I sell and service them. With that said, a said to be missing life raft would automatically put out a stress alert on dispatch. If it failed, the built in EPIRB and or GMDSS handheld would still be in use. Unless no one was able to work it.( which is highly unlikeable)

 Re: Explosion on Deepwater Horizon
We're loading up with helo fuel now then heading out to replinish the BP Thunderhorse PDQ. There using the Thunderhorse as a re-fueling depot for all in/out bound and search and rescue helo flights.

 Re: Explosion on Deepwater Horizon
I can tell you this after reading the posts that people have Written under theat CNN topic i am convinced that there are people in this world that shouldn't even have a computer or be breathing.
A majority of the posts that were left were people that were worried about gas prices going up and talking about this company using this as an excuse to raise prices.
Another post said something like, see this is why we shouldn't drill for oil.
COME ON PEOPLE THERE ARE PEOPLE OUT THERE THAT HAVEN'T BEEN FOUND! SCREW GAS PRICES AND SCREW WHERE WE DRILL!
These people need to be found, i spent 7 yrs out there in the gulf and feared every one of them cause drilling rigs and production platforms are just ticking time bombs. Safety is #1 in my book and then production. This explosion was out of the drilling crews hands. They hit a big gas pocket and it came up through the well and damaged equipment which caused the fire.
My sincere prayers go out to these guys familys and to the ones that have been rescued and are recovering!
Now i am off my soap box!
