Post subject:  35 HP GTR motor torque problem

I just finished rigging a 19' X 4' Charles Leonard flat boat with a 35 HP GTR. I took my first ride Saturday and the boat pulls hard to the left. I bought a torque tab from Gatortail and installed the tab on the skeg, but the boat still pulled to the left. I bent the skeg and moved the motor to the left another 1" and it seemed to improve slightly, but the boat still wants to go to the left (not quite as bad). I drove it by myself and then had another person in the boat and he moved around in the boat, but it didn't seem to have any effect on the left pull of the boat. The only other thing in the boat was 15 gallons of gas in a built in gas tank directly behind the deck in the front of the boat. Any suggestions or remedies are appreciated. : :(

Put an Icechest full of beer and ice on the floor by the front deck. Grab one of them brewskis and pop a top. Proceed to run that motor at WOT and see which way you need to move ur icechest. Left or right and keep trying to see when it balances out. These bots/motors are very sensitive to an unbalanced load.

Airboat...do what Maxxis said with the ice chest...i think you'll get the feel real quick...i had my 4 year old girl move from one side to the other and could feel a difference.

Think I might take you up on the brewskies. The problem will be solved sooner or later. If necessary, I will get hydraulic steering. Getting weak in my old age. :)
