Got some pretty bad electrolysis pitting on the taper in the chine of my gdsd boat.
So bad that theres a hole all the way through and it leaks pretty bad. Want to have the float pods removed and fix the bottom but looking for a reputable welder in Georgia that does good work on boats. If anyone has a recommendation let me know.

Blounts sheet metal in Zebulon replaced the bottom in my old boat

Gator Glide would seal small holes and prevent more electrolisis....

Well, our boy Frog is about to be a multi millionaire. His magic slick potion not only makes rigs slide across mud and veggies, but it will repair small holes in the bottom of boats so they are considered seaworthy once again.

No welder or gator glide required. Just a can of flex seal. :D

Too bad you're not closer, there's a retired guy here local to me that does welding on any material for $25/hr + actual cost of materials. He built airboats back in the day. He just finished up modifying a fuel tank to fit under the deck of my GD. Really good work. Very reasonable.

They work on whatever. Chad is a good guy and will help anybody (as long as you tell him you next boat will be a prodigy lol). I have a gt hull and he put a pointed bow on it for me.

I had this happen with an outboard boat that my dad had used in the saltwater, then let sit up for a year or two. Started pin holing where the bunks were. Brought it to a guy that didn't want to weld it so I had to mess with it myself.

I sprayed a diluted vinegar solution all over it after I sanded it down. Once it was clean, I cleaned it real good with acetone, then filled the holes with epoxy. After that I painted the entire bottom with a product called gluvit, which has to be the same stuff as gator glide. It's meant to seal up the bottom of the boat.

I know it sounds like a bullshit way to fix the issue, but it has held up good and had zero issues since. It was not on a mud boat though. Is your electrolysis/corrosion coming from the treated wood on the bunks? The welder that I brought mine to said it was the salt being trapped in the carpet of the bunks for so long. Didn't think yours would see much salt.

Quit shocking fish and you wont have those issues...

Other than welding, you could do as mentioned above and cover it with steel flex or something thicker than GG. GG is thin like paint, I would want a filler.

Is it corrosion or electrolysis?

Remove carpet from the bunks if its from where it rides on the trailer.

No way that shit foam is going back in there after all this. Definitely salt water all waterlogged in there.

That sucks. Can't really tell where this is on the boat. Not that I have any info to help you but I am interested. Good luck with the repairs.

Looks like they could just cut the chine out and replace that piece and grind it smooth.

That makes me tempted to remove the foam boxes on my GD hull also. Already pulled the foam out of the bow for a storage compartment anyway.

Your issue seems like a good candidate for steel flex epoxy. I just did my boat it has the consistency of a little thinner than honey and will stay put for the most part and feels like glass.

Steel flex, gator glide, or whatever else, the waterlogged salt foam still has to go and the aluminum needs fixing. Those coatings won't provide any structure if there's none due to holes.

My cousins gd boat was ran in salt water. He had over 275lbs of foam just in the floor. Your holes probably won't be at water level once you get rid of the foam. Then problem solved
