I want to put down an aluminum floor in a 1436 Jon I picked up for a shallow creek which has lots of beaver dams and some places it may need to be dragged wanna keep it light as possible gonna put blue or pink foam under the floor thinking 060 or 080 at the thickest after its down gonna cover it in 1/2 inch antifatigue foam what's the thinnest yall have done ??? |

I'd try a test piece of what you think may work, and put the foam under that (good idea I did the same), and try it over two supporting ribs. You will know if it flexes too much by putting your weight plus additional weight. If you want to go cheap, find some highway signs and try those. I do recommend closeout sheets of hydroturf over the aluminum to save $. The aluminum is much better than wood. I used .090 in my .100 1648 and it works good. I did use center pieces of galvanized U channel to keep the whole floor level, and a 1/4" alum angle at one end where it needed support where it met up with the rear half floor.. SS screws and washers or rivets are advisable. |

We did one with 4x4 aluminum road construction signs and used 1 Quart flat style oil bottles between the ribs for floatation. We put a dab of sealent on hull side of oil bottle to hold them in position. We also sealed the cap on after crushing them to the height of the ribs. Used a 2x4 across ribs to crush bottles to the right height then installed cap. Bottles seem to support weight better between ribs and drain without collecting as much debris, like foam. |

measure the depth of the flooring ribs and get the pink foam sheets from your hardware department store. Cut the sheets to fit between the ribs and be flush with the top of the ribs. You will be able to get away with the .060 flooring if you do it that way. Then you can rivet or use self tapping screws to secure the floor to the ribs. |
