About to buy a new 1436 war eagle with a copperhead. Which horsepower should I go with? Need your guy's help.

Don't buy a war eagle. Regardless of what they show in their ads, their hulls are not optimum for a mud motor.

Also the 18 and 23 are within 3lbs of each other so go big you will need it.

Where I hunt we don't have a lot of mud. Mostly shallow water with a lot of weeds, and we have to pull over dikes that are 10 ft tall and some are 100 ft wide so a lighter rig is better.

I live 20 minutes from the War Eagle plant in AR and have owned several of their boats. If your running an outboard motor, no problems, but not a mud motor. A good friend of mine has a war eagle with a 23 HP SD GD on it and he is always complaining about issues with not matching the motor with the boat. I sold my war eagle and bought a GD boat/ SD motor and have no regrets. As far as an engine, buy the most horsepower you can afford. You won't regret it later.
