You'd be better served by selling it and replacing it with something with a hunt deck already on it. But..... Since you asked, you could cut down the existing transom, leaving the motor mount where it is, brace it, and put a false transom 16-18" in front of it... You'd still have a 16' boat, but you also wouldn't have a boat with some scabbed together BS hanging off the back of it. |

That's kinda what I was thinking with the factory beveled bottom It would be tough to not cobble it up too bad. I think the best would be too cut it down and fab it up that way. |

Might I ask what the purpose of making your boat smaller may be? That's basically all you'll be accomplishing by doing this. The engine will be in the same place, you'll be in the same place etc... |

Yes thanks for your interest... I really like the idea of having a step to get in and out the back and also I hunt with a hard side blind and right next to motor would be a great place for the dog to sit. I really just created this post to get some feedback and possibly get some pictures of other mods done to go devil hulls? There isn't a ton of people revamping gd hulls but the ones I've seen really got my gears turning. Thanks again |

I hear ya, I know lots of guys who have built dog ladders for the front of the boat and the retriever sits on the bow. I know more than a few that carry a rope swim ladder to hang off the transom to help getting in and out.... Just ideas, and they don't require you to cut your boat up. |

Great idea... My little sweetheart of a duck boat would sure look swell with a huntdeck though! |
