looks really cool! My concerns would be adhesion, touch up, weight. But number one adhesion especially when it gets nicked then the hydraulic effect of the water . Like to see some testing. |

I wouldn't pay 3k. I'm thinking more of applying a 1/16" lay of liner and GG over the top of that, flipping the boat and doing it myself.... would give durability and slick. I want the liner bc the water is a sheet rock river. has some shelves with sharper edges that like to make gouges in a hull. figure the liner will turn a gouge to a dent and the dents to non-issues. then the GG would keep it all slick. obviously if I square up to a sharp edge the hull is taking the impact, but for the other instances this would work. I mean if the jet boat guys are using this method it must be the way to go. They put their rigs through the roughest elements possible. |

IMO only: If I was running a rocky river a majority of the time, i'd add uhmw to the bottom and be done worrying about it. It is a ton of work to drill and attach it to the hull, but worth every minute spent, because nothing will protect your bottom like a 3/16 or 1/4 piece of slippery plastic. If your boat has ribs and is not a true mud hull add it to the ribs. It sounds like you plan to flip the boat and do it yourself anyway, so as long as you have it flipped over start drilling holes and mount the uhmw sheet and never regret it. |

EVT used to do the poly bottoms with 3m 5200 as the adhesive. |

I was watching the GG videos and this popped up on the side, wondered if ya had ever seen this? I have done it. It's only a .125 thick the oysters really tear it up had it on the boat for two years. But it got so shredded it started slowing the hull down so I ripped it off. The install is a PIA bc the sheets only come 18" wide so lots of taping and cutting. before the vacum process. |

just ran across this.. Toledo bend fiberglass does it, they call it gorilla hull. I thought it was only for bass boats and then I saw this. Was reading a fishing page where someone asked about fiberglass repair and a ton of people recommended this "gorilla hull " ..
