All foam will eventually hold water, closed cell or otherwise. May not be an issue for 10 years, but could be quicker than that if the boat sat uncovered in the elements with water sitting in it.

What size and model of Excel are you looking at ???

What motor are you thinking of using on it ???

If the price is right - use the coins you save to fix it up the way you want it to be...

Until then run the heck out of it...

All foam will eventually hold water if not properly cared for, with biggest factor being how it is stored....in shop, under a cover, or left wide open in the rain time and time again, has the plug been left in allowing water to stand in the boat, etc etc etc

Thanks for the responses guys. Unfortunately there aren’t a lot of custom builders up in the north woods.
