I definitely agree with the litter issue. Last yr there were some folks just throwing their empty bottles & other trash overboard. That's bullchit, & we don't need it. The LA Mud Run is no longer a public event because of that very thing. Take some pride in yourselves & pick up your own trash.

I like the waiver too. I doubt we really will ever need it, but that's good insurance for those of us putting it all out there.

Looking fwd to another successful good time & ready to see everyone again.

When did BH marsh stop being a public water way?

Post subject:  Re: IMPORTANT! - PLEASE READ - MANDATORY

I wouldn't mind signing it at all.

The thing is that this thing isn't for the sensible people like here on MMT, it's for some dumbass that acts retarded, gets killed because of it and his family wants to sue everyone involved for their loved ones stupidity and that ain't right.

That's all it is. Shame it has to be like that, but I would rather get a form signed and protect myself than be sitting in court because you had something to do with a mud run.

Think about it.

Sorry bout the first rant I will stop by the ramp and pick up my shirts. Everyone that is saying this is a good thing i am sure yal have reasons or horror stories as to why. This being a public boat ramp into a public body of water I just cant see signing anything to put my boat in and go ride around.

Again sorry but i will not be making this ride or will launch under the big bridge and show up. Its a shame it has come to this a crying shame.

Post subject:  Re: IMPORTANT! - PLEASE READ - MANDATORY

I understand the reason for the release and have signed many releases at different events. The exception is that the events were on privately owned property. I'm not trying to knock you wanting this release, but how do you intend to enforce it if its on public water. I mean if one of the guys does not want to sign it and says you can kiss his butt, how are you gonna stop him from riding with y'all. Any one can follow a bunch of other boats around public water. If I was coming to the run, I would sign it no problem. But my curiosity is getting the best of me on the words "mandatory" and everyone "must" sign a copy to participate.

Post subject:  Re: IMPORTANT! - PLEASE READ - MANDATORY

I also agree with BAG Hunter on that.

I've always had the notion that it's public waterways and everyone is responsible for their own actions and never saw the need for a waiver.

BUT, here's the thing. The lawyer of the dead person (or injured person) will claim that it was the mud run that lured them there in the first place and had it not been for that, they wouldn't have been there.

That's exactly what would happen.

I was a juror on a civil medical malpractice case in federal court. They sued the hospital, the doctors and even the marketing guy. They spent 2 days with the marketing guy when all he did was pick the patient up from the airport and bring them to the hospital. Total waste of time with him as he wasn't the one doing anything to the patient. (we found him 0% fault) The case almost went in favor of the hospital due to the plantiff's lawyers trying to dog and pony show the deal and drag all sorts of unnecessary people on the stand. Total waste of time and we could have been done in three days but took a week and a day of missing work.

The world's got shitty people in it, and you have to protect yourself from them.

I agree with this!!! Cause of all the ignorant and inconsiderate ppl out there, I hunt in this marsh and don't wanna see beer cans all over the place!!

Post subject:  IMPORTANT! - PLEASE READ - MANDATORY

I will say this I have seen some fucking idiots at these rides!! I don't drink and drive when in my boat for the one reason I don't want to take the chance of losing everything I have ever worked for!! I seen people that could barely stand up much less drive a boat!!

Post subject:  Re: IMPORTANT! - PLEASE READ - MANDATORY

I will sign and I like it.....the marsh flat by GSU is a buddy of mine's lease and I know he doesn't want a sh*t load of trash in there, they don't care if we all go in there as long as we keep it clean. I hunt and fish with 2 orange county wardens and 2 jefferson county wardens. They said they don't care as long as no one is littering and driving drunk. i work in LE myself. I wanna have fun and meet new people, please don't make anyone have to work. Police yourselves and we won't have to, I believe that is the point trying to be made.

Post subject:  Re: IMPORTANT! - PLEASE READ - MANDATORY

I hate to sound like a jerk, but I am not signing a waiver for launching and riding in public water. I don't litter, but if someone does just take their TX numbers down and call a game warden. If I run into someone, well then just sue my boat owners insurance. If someone told me I couldn't ride over signing a piece of paper that has no legal value, well I'd have a problem with that. Instead of giving mandatory orders, simply remind everyone to act like responsible adults. If people can't act right then we just need to quit having get togethers (RIDE PLANS) like this...

I had a long, drawn out response, but it got lost when I responded to a pm.

Long story short...
Anyone who's planning to refuse to sign this waiver, which is only in place to protect the sponsors of the event, can pm me & I'll be glad to refund their shirt money. I'm not gonna get my ass sued because some dumbass got drunk & hurt somebody else. If you're not gonna sign the waiver, don't even bother to show up. Go enjoy your weekend elsewhere, so I don't have to worry about you suing me the following week. We've never asked for the waiver in the past, but we've never had sponsors in the past either.

Robert, the waiver is because not everyone will see it that way. Some sorry mofo's now days will sue everyone that had anything to do with the ride, me included.

LA Mud Run - public waterway - waivers signed without complaint
Muddi Gras - public waterway - waivers signed without complaint

Why is this an issue now????????

Post subject:  Re: IMPORTANT! - PLEASE READ - MANDATORY

Just a question, has anybody ever been sued after attending a ride? NOt knocking the idea just would like to know :?:

Honestly the way the title is typed, i could see why it would turn some people away with the word Mandatory in it. I mean you don't go up to people right off the bat and start hollering at them! You got to be gentle and soothing saying hey guys we have came up with a waiver and would like everyone to sign it on behalf of the sponsorships that have put there names on this ride. See everyone feels better now ;)

Post subject:  Re: IMPORTANT! - PLEASE READ - MANDATORY

The only people not wanting to sign the waiver, don't hunt that area or are not sponsoring the event... Maybe. Ext year they can put a ride together where they hunt without waivers...

I absolutely cannot beleive that some of yall are acting like this!!! What the FUCK is it gonna hurt for you to sign a fucking waiver????? It protects everybody. We not trying to insert a dermal implant, get your social security number, or anything like that. Just trying to make sure no one gets involved in a lawsuit. that is all.
