It's time once again for the Mud Bugs & Mud Boats run in Wallisville, TX!

http://www.facebook.com/events/251139508288268/

We will be meeting at the Hugp Point Boat Ramp (see map below) starting at 9AM. We will be leaving the ramp by 10AM! We will not be waiting on anyone. The first half of the ride is 2 hours long. We will be running up Old River and through some good trails. As always we will be stopping in certain areas for 10 minutes at at time.

We plan on returning to the launch around Noon.

Lunch: Noon - 1:30 PM

After lunch we will be running up the Trinity river & through the locks. This area is completely fresh water. We will be running down the trail to Miller Lake which is North of I-10 off the Trinity.

I have attached a link to Google Maps of the area: .

Wallisville is conveniently located just East of Baytown, only 45 minutes East of Houston and a 50 minute drive West of the Beaumont / Port Arthur area.

Shirts have been designed for the event. Here is the back of the shirt:

2012 - Mudbugs & Mudboats.jpg

Note: We will be covering a lot of ground. Please bring a full tank of gas & an extra gas can to top off your tank during lunch. I would say we can easily cover 40 miles.

"The Wallisville Lake Project is 23,000+ acres along and on either side of the Trinity River from just below the lock and dam, north to just south of the community of Moss Bluff. The project is managed for the public good and for the benefit of the wildlife living in and migrating through the area. A balanced approach is applied to ensure that the needs and desires of the visiting public are met as nearly as possible without jeopardizing the wildlife and plants under the Corps’ care.

Marshes, bottomland riparian forests, swamps, and aquatic habitats are the major living spaces for the Project’s animals and plants. As a major portion of the Trinity River’s Estuary, the Project is influenced by both fresh and salt water due to tides and river flows."

New boat should be ready by then so I'm hoping to make it. Any suggestions on hotels in the area?

Where did (or do you) cook up the mud bugs? It would be nice to have those coming from out of town to stay at the same place, kind of like SETX??

It's a lil different than the way we did the SETX run. We ride for a couple hours, then head back to the launch & eat crawfish. Then we go ride some more. Makes the all day event a lil more action filled, vs just parking in a mud flat & going for an occasional spin in the mud. Wallisville is always a fun ride, except for last year when we were all stuck in the sand. Wait, that was kinda fun too.

What about outboards? Will there be some areas that outboards will not be able to make it through the ride?

Austin, depends on water levels, but you should be able to run MOST of it with an OB.

DGuidry, the ride is the weekend before the wedding, why would you have to postpone it?

5 weeks away.

I'll start a thread in a week or so to see how many people are coming. This will allow us to figure out how much crawfish to harvest.

My buddy who cooked last year lost his mom to cancer yesterday. I am unsure if he will want to take on my two boils in early April. I have asked Mike Bingham w/ EVT to help out. He is also going to hook us up with a good price on the bugs seeing as he has several farms.

Our sponsor involvement will further reduce the costs of the bugs & event t-shirts.

Just found out momma has to have surgery on Thursday, so she's not gonna make it. If for some reason I can't make it, I'll send the poker run call with Rod.

We should go home tomorrow, if so, I'll be there. Just have to finish the boat. Still haven't gotten it registered or even in water yet.
