 Mudbuddy problem?
I currently have a boat on the way and wanted to get a mudbuddy HDR, but someone said that a lot of people hav trouble with the switch on the back of the motor going out and not being able to drive.
Does anyone have this issue? how often does it happen?

 Re: Mudbuddy problem?
Sorry, meant to specify it's not just on the HDRs. I believe he said it's on all the HDs and it's to control the F-N-R from what he was explaining

 Re: Mudbuddy problem?
Well absolutely. If I have to change a part every time I go out, I wouldn't want to buy it. Warranty doesn't cover anything if you're stuck out on the water.

 Re: Mudbuddy problem?
You're asking a question about a switch that exists on every HD and gt motor. It's a three position momentary on/off/ on, can get extras from either manufacturer, or auto parts store, and they last more than one trip. Try a few hundred hours in most cases. Study the motors a bit more, read half the threads on this forum, and you'll find answers to likely any question you may have concerning reliability and parts replacement on these things. You aren't even sure what you're asking about, which means some homework is in order to understand the basics about their design.

 Re: Mudbuddy problem?
Hell, with the information that exists on this forum, you could start with a block and crank, and build a complete engine, and fix (or know who to send it to) any problem you have with any of the big 4 frames (gd, mb, gt, and pd).

 Re: Mudbuddy problem?
There isn't a point in it if you aren't willing to figure anything out from the expertise that has spoken here in the past. The info these guys have provided is invaluable to how we work on these motors today, and not going through those posts only means you'll have more questions like this one and will have issues you could've avoided. Which means you'll waste your money, and the good faith of people that try to help you when you ask a question. Have some respect for the guys you came here asking questions of, and the ones that taught them.

I wasn't referring to myself. "These guys" doesn't imply "me".

 Re: Mudbuddy problem?
The clutch itself on every neutral/forward mud motor is generally in the same spot. Tge switches and controls are generally in the same area to, the front end of the tiller arm..I love my GTR but i would take the controls off the mud buddy any day simply because they are in a easy access spot. I know several people will agree to. I saw a thread on here once about putting the MB controls on a GTR but im not inclined enough to do that reading those damn diagrams lol.
No matter how many people hate on MB, every knows they wouldn't be selling half as many motors as they do if something broke every time one was run.
