Post Deploying, motor is going to sit....
Gentlemen, looks like I will be leaving in August/Sept for 6-9months. Other than draining all the fuel. Is there anything else y'all suggest I should do to set the motor up for that time?

1) thank you for your service.

2) covered storage would be best (garage, carport, etc), but if you dont have access to covered storage, I'd at least get something to cover the motor with.

3) yes draining the entire fuel system would be a good idea, that way you can start over fresh when you get back. Other than that, spray the motor down with a good anti corrosion spray (especially the wire connections).

4) I would also unhook the battery. And would be a good idea to put a good charge on it before you leave too.

5) when you get back, I would then change all the fluids and lubricate everything before you put her back on the water.

6) be safe on your deployment, and hope you make it back in time to do a little hunting.

good luck on your deployment

absolutely if you can I would park inside barn/garage at least covered.

I also take Gatorade bottle(s) with a bunch of holes in them and put moth balls in them to keep mice out of everything. Spread a couple strategically around your boat/motor, those little buggers like to move in to everything.

And for godsake be careful

Thanks for the replies. My boat is kept in the garage all the time. The only time its slept outside is when I go camping haha. I am hoping to make it back for some of turkey season next year.

Change oil and filter prior to deployment. Dirty oil is acidic and can pit some surfaces.

You can use fogging oil spray it into the intake while running then kill engine while spraying until it shuts down. I do this to my snowmobile before spring to keep everything fresh and lubed.

Thanks for your service.
