 repowering 23hp gdsd
I want to repower my 23hp GDSD to a 35hp engine. Is the 23 hp and 35 hp frames the same? i know i will need to regear and possibly a new belt.

No the 35 has a 36inch shaft length and the 23 a 32 inch. Other than that in may work I don't know for sure

 Re: repowering 23hp gdsd
well i sent godevil an e-mail and was told the 35 uses a different frame. i asked for specifics and all i got was a different frame size.(Some woman named Donna)
i was thinking since i wanted more power instead of heads, cam, exhaust, etc. i could just upsize the engine and have more reliable horsepower for the same price.
Does anyone have a model number for a briggs 35hp GDSD so i can compare some specs. and measurements?
I know i will need to replace upper gear and possibly belt. Will godevil even sell me parts that are not for my specific motor/serial number?

 Re: repowering 23hp gdsd
A 23 has a 5 1/4" crank hieght.
A 35 has a 7 1/2" crank hieight. Some mfg's 23 frames use a 35 frame with spacers under the block to bring it to 7 1/2" so they can be swaped easily. Others are a completley different frame with a different plate hieght, considering you can't even swap a GDSD to a tall transom without buying the whole shabang lower unit and all... My guess is it is a PITA to swap them and Coco will haunt you if you do.
