Post oil on air filter
Went to put on new exhaust the other day and noticed the left side (what i could see inside the head with exhaust removed) looked oily and the right side looked good. Looked at my air filter today and noticed oil had soaked up into the filter and looks like a vacuum line or somthing going from top of carb to the "left bank" side of the motor is were it might be coming from. Any thoughts :?:

That hose is the crankcase vent. If you have oil on the air filter, it's from blow by.

Yeah ther would be alot more oil than usual if thats the case and also the motor would be smoking if he has as much oil as he says he does, not much but there will be smoke, but on a normal basis there will be a little residual oil from the carb pulling vaccum on the crank case, i rerouted mine to my exhaust so there woulnd't be an oil in my crab area plus it evacuates better.

Yeah i here ya thats what i was saying on a normal basis it will be residual, well there will be a little more oil on that side because of the carb pulling vaccum on that head, without looing at it i can't really give an answer

What do the plugs look like? If the rings are bad you should see some oil on the plugs.

Alright WTF? Changed spark plugs they really dint look bad, had a local Brigg's dealer adjust valve lash he said it was needing it, changed oil and filter also new air filter. Took boat out for test run and it was the best it has ever ran. The next time out ran like crap oil all over the air filter again and a loss of RPM's. I took it back to the Brigg's dealer (under warranty for 2 more years) but thought i would see if ya'll have any thoughts. Thanks

Again, blow by due to bad or misaligned rings.
