To add to Bayouboy's comment, make sure to change your oil and plug after you do a decarb. with the Seafoam.

STFU!

I'm sure everyone lives right next to a Chevron station with Techron! lol

If you do your home work you'll see that there's no proof that 93 octane runs any cleaner than 87. Truth of the matter is there was a law suit against Exxon for such a claim.

Since there are so many lovers of Seafoam here, many of you appear to work in the oil industry, and many of you are DIYers, can anyone tell me where the magic in seafoam comes from? Seafoam is like stupid expensive at $9 or $10 a can. Must be a way to mix it up a gallon at a time for 1/10th the price.

I thought it would be full of benzene and tolulene and stuff that makes your kids have 17 fingers, but Seafoam is made of: (approx) "pale oil" - 60% , Naptha = 30%, and IPA - 10%.

Is IPA a short form for Isopropyl alcohol? That's just fuel de-icer. Naptha is just "crude gas" or " white gas" or Coleman fuel. Stabil is like 95% naptha. So, what is "pale oil" and what is it used for? Is it a light oil like mineral oil without all the paraffin in it? Is it like ATF - like the "old guys" used to put in their gas back in the "old days"?

M.

The cost went up about 4.00+ a pint in the last year or so. Used to be 5.00+ a pint and its now about 9.00 a pt. But you can get the cost down about 3.00 a pint if you buy it buy the gallon. Think it was like 54.00 a gallon at Discount Auto. I run it every 2-3 tanks.

As per their website. Also supposed to change the oil afterward.

As a fuel system additive, Sea Foam will clean fuel injectors, clean carbon, gum and varnish deposits, add lubricity to fuel, stabilize fuel for 2 years and control moisture.

I just dump a pint in my 12gl tank when I fill it up, at least every 3rd tank for sure. Maybe overkill but I have never had an engine run problem and it cranks right up every time. Don't know that it has enhanced performance any that I can see but as Giga so strongly pointed out its part of MY preventative maintenance process. Like I said it may be overkill cause gas don't stay in my tank long enough to go bad. It ain't cheap but as much as I spend on everything else related to my hobbies its no concern to me for peace of mind I guess.

You only need to change your oil if your using it as a pre service cleaner.

Crankcase oil.
