 The BEST bass fishing line?
Alright fishin brothers, I`m tired of trying to find some good 20# line for bass fishin. I used to use Trilene Tournament Series, and had good luck with that, but they don`t make it any more. I`ve tried a bunch of the new stuff and no luck. What`s a really good line ? Cost is not a concern ,after losing some good fish.

Re: The BEST bass fishing line?
My reply is more geared to saltwater but to me if it handles the abuse here then why not there...
Each year we do tests on different lines and knots seeing which retains its strength. 65lb Power Pro braid is what I have all heavy tackle backed with top shot of 60lb fluorocarbon.
Power pro has held up through 3 seasons of off shore bottom fishing, trolling & not one break and I'm just now ready to re spool.
My in shore rods are all spooled with Big Game 12lb I think Berkley makes it. I use a 15-20lb leader. Some anglers like braid, I just like the give of mono a bit more but the sensitivity of braid is amazing you can feel everything.
I have one spinning rod with braid on the boat & one bait caster with mono usually when I'm out fishing. I've noticed with braid at least on one of my rods the tips don't hold up to the abrasiveness of it and will (or at least on mine) have worn groves into the tips causing me to have to replace the plastic piece in the eyelets.

Re: The BEST bass fishing line?
Yeah, I`m going to try that P-Line. That`s one I have`nt tried---, and I`ve heard lots of good reports on it. I`ve got that Berkley/Fireline(round braid) on my flippin rod, I like it as far as casting smooth, no memory, sensetivity etc., but I have `nt caught any fish on it, could be fish ain`t bitin, or I`m not holdin my tongue right, but I`m goin to try it a little longer(high dollar), if no luck, back to mono. X2- on the Big game- but I`ve only found it in 1500ft spools, and just like this Sufix stuff, it`s likely to break any where, even back in the spool.

Re: The BEST bass fishing line?
Whatever line you use (excluding braid) after you fresh spool it tie it to a fence or something let it all out and stretch it. This makes a huge difference in keeping my flouro straight in the water and picks up on sensitivity too. once you stretch your line and fish with it, you won't want to fish again without doing so. i also like to use that Reelmagic. i really like this stuff http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/store ... 0_100-17-0

Re: The BEST bass fishing line?
like you i have tried several different lines and i have found that Berkley Trilene 100% Fluorocarbon in the gold box is the best IMO. very sensitive and tough.

Re: The BEST bass fishing line?
Hey turbodrive, I have`nt thaught of that in a long time, my Dad used to swear by that method, and would do it everytime he respooled. I`m going to try it again. Also on spinning reels he would fill the reel up, then let the line feed off behind the boat, then reel it back up, no more twists or line peelin off. Thanks !

Re: The BEST bass fishing line?
I use 40 lb Power Pro for bass fishing, and for saltwater I use 65# Power Pro.
I like it alot because its very sensitive...bass fishing I bounce alot of worms off the bottom so I like the sensitivity.

Re: The BEST bass fishing line?
Try "Triple Fish" perlon. Its not mono, the only stuff I found that can hold up. It will straighten out a #2 hook before breaking(15# test) can find it online at at place's like Toledo Tackle at Toledo Bend. I use the 10# for finesse fish'n in the camo. good luck!

Re: The BEST bass fishing line?
Berkley trilene is alright, it casts very smooth and much farther than any braided, I love the strength and sensitivity of braided but cannot find any that casts as far or smooth as mono though, so I'm somewhere in the middle. If anybody knows a braided that will outcast mono lemme know.

Re: The BEST bass fishing line?
just like most products today, fishing line is more about catching anglers rather than fish. i have always used and liked Ande monofilament. Power Pro & Jerry Brown hollow core are hard to beat on the synthetic end.
