Since it has a rev limiter of 4300, is there not a governor anymore?

Is there any reason to double up the throttle/governor spring or put the small spring on there? My motor is running around 3600 with a load. Out of the water its pushing the 4300 mark, probably around 4200.

Anything else I should know about it that is different from the old big blocks?

It has a better charging system, Satinless muffler, lighter flywheel (some dislike)

Burns alot more gas for some reason.

Its got potted coils which perform timing advance as the RPM increases, coated hardware, better electrical, gets rid of the anti-backfire solenoid, better fuel pump (runs off vacuum from intake vs. the cam). Maybe the timing advance burns more fuel- I haven't noticed that.

All the governor linkage and gear are still there even though the electronic rev limiter is built into the coils (its a more graceful rev limit than the external boxes too). I think it has to do with the linkage requiring the governor arm (re-used from the regular vanguard).

You are running a really heavy load to only have 3600 in the water. If you have the foam pre-filter on your air filter, take it off and let that motor breath some.

At caddo we made a short run Friday morning and then a run up over to Jefferson (26 miles one way). Don had burned 6 gal at that point. I didn't burn 6 gal the entire day. That's a good deal more fuel.

You ran all the way to jefferson and back on less than 6 gallons? Damn. My 27 makes it with about five gallons, and my dads 32 takes right at 6 just to get there.

i dont even have a choke cable hooked up to mine and have only had to choke it once when it was 20dg outside. Starts everytime without a problem. I can tell you if you ahve a air leak in you gas line it will loos prime and not start. If you notice you prime not holing after you kill the motor for a few hours then check you line you have a leak.
