I recently broke down and cleaned my carb on my 36PD due to trash in it. After putting it back together, the engine is running fine again, it's not killing, being hard to start, and runnig rough like before. But - I've noticed that under similar running conditions compared to before I cleaned the carb, I've lost approx. 100 to 150 RPM's. Any idea's as to why and what could I trouble shoot to fix it? My buddy, without my knwoing, did move those two screws on the top/outside the carb. He said one was for air intake, but didn't know which one. We did put them back in the same place as before, so I'm pretty sure that's not the problem - but it could be. Any advise is appreciated, I'm not the master mechanic.

The screws on the top of the motor are for idle air mixture on each cylinder and do not come into play past idle. They are limited to 1/4 adjust anyway.

Did you hook all the linkage back up exactly the same? If the throttle is not opening up all the way or the choke is partially on it will affect your top end RPM.

If you haven't already- remove the foam pre-filter off the stock air filter (this will gain you some RPM) but should not be related to your problem.

what's ur WFO rpms in neutral?

if they're low, did u try adjusting the governor screw on the slide linkage to get ur rpms up?

if ur lookin at the back of the motor, lower right, there's a spring tension screw. screw in to increase rpms until ur around 4250~4300 WFO in neutral

thanks for the help guys. i ran it yesterday and i increased my rpm's. i turned the screw that was attached to that spring. i'm now in the 4150 - 4200 range when running wide open. thanks again.

I hope you set your RPM's out of water and not in the water while running...
