Post Fuel grade question
I put some mid grade fuel in my 36 prodrive today thought it might be a little upgrade. The funny thing is, the motor ran like shiot. I ran it about 1 hr. pretty hard and then cut it off to do a little fishing for 10 mins. or so. when I tried to start it back it gave trouble like it wasn't getting fuel. I dismissed this incident because it soon started when I choked it. A little later I drove down the creek 30-40 mins and then cut it off again for 10 mins. or so while I talked to another boater. Same thing happend again, didn't want to start and acted like it wasn't getting fuel. This engine has 76 hrs on it and it has always started with no problem. Has anyone else had problems with higher octane fuel in their engines? Could it be something else besides the fuel? I normally don't have to choke the engine once it is warm.

Don't think its the grade my boy, sounds like vapor lock or just plain bad gas.

I've been having the same problem but I have a Mikuni. Figured out if I try it while at 1/2 to full throttle that it will start.

I don't really get it. I put the crap grade fuel back in my boat and ran it for about 3 hrs today and didn't have any problems. I think that my motor just hates high octane fuel. If I ever put premium fuel in my motor it back fires pretty often when I let off the throtle. Thanks for all the input.

Mine seems to run better with premium fuel.
