 Poor speed 40 hp MB
OK, after I posted my boat review I got a few PMs and people saying that my speed numbers were low. Here's the setup:
Gator Trax 1850 with huntdeck, 40 hp mud buddy. Load: Me (225lbs), my 8 yr old (75 lbs), full fuel, two optima batteries and the motor battery
The Optimas are inside the rear compartment, and the motor battery is just left of center in front of the transom. I have adjusted the power trim up and down, and the absolute best speed I can get is 21 mph in smooth water, at 3995 RPM.
In my opinion, I should get a little more than that. This is my first mud motor and boat, and I don't expect blistering speeds, but 21 mph?

I haven't checked, I should mention that this is a brand new rig, about 10 hours on it.

Who set up the motor? I bet I can guess, and if so you need the motor set up.
I am west of you but we can meet up with yourself and ducksniper to check them both out.
I have a buddy with an 1850 and it runs well over 30 with a MB 45 on it. You got some type of set up problem
