X2 on Travis Matte. I also like any of the Foret's. Aaron Foret, Wayne Foret, Ryan Foret and the Foret Tradition.

Heard that too. Not sure if that's true. My friend and business associate played bass for Wayne in the 80's and Johnny Chauvin is a good friend also (I used to manage him and did his cd artwork).

Yea, here's my list of good stuff:

Cajun:
Wayne Toups
Damon Troy (he played bass for Johnny Chauvin for a while)
Kevin Naquin
Horace Trahan
Pine Leaf Boys
Steve Riley

Zydeco:
Clifton Chenier
Corey Ledet
Chubby Carrier (friend of mine, did his cd artwork, promo video)
Dwayne Dopsie
Geno Delafose
Chris Ardoin

Leg chains or whatever, he is one badass mofo'in master on the accordion. Many have tried to copy his style but there's only one like him. He brought cajun/zydecajun music to alot of folks around the world.

He's had his demons with drugs and drinkin' but he's on the right track now. Glad for him.

how da hell y'all consider anything out of Travis Matte's mouth music is beyond me... that shit ain't nuthin but coon-tunes with an accordian in da background. garbage. he's a disgrace to anything cajun.

Jamie Bergeron, one of my favorites, but he can throw some of that ****** garbage shit too just to try to keep the retarded Travis Matte crowds' attention for a little while. lol

Add Jr. Melancon to the list please.

Grew up listening to oldies with the grandparents like The Balfa Brothers. To me that is real Cajun music. Accordian, triangle and fiddle. :D

T matte's style was somewhat ok when his Bar-b-q n drink a few song was out about 6-7 years ago. But now it is terrible. My good buddy took a Cajun music class at ULL, and the whole class also thinks he is a Disgrace to Cajun Music.

THey have alot of good music out there. If you come to South, LA tune in to KBON 101.1 and enjoy. I actually enjoy some good ole swamp pop music alot. We have the Swamp Goild CD's at home and a few on my Ipod. I grew up listending to it and have become accustomed to it. When you cannot find shit on the radio when driving I can always enjoy a LA music on 101.1!

Wayne Toups was asked about Travis' music, he said "at least he's doing something different". My friend who plays guitar for Johnny Chauvin is a head MRI tech and he scanned Wayne before he went serve his jail time, he told Wayne who he was and that he played for Johnny and Wayne told him "is he trying to copy me too" :D

Met Wayne once at Blackham Colleseum when my friend (who once played bass with Wayne) was playing with Richard Lebouef. Wayne sat in on a few songs and I got to shoot the shit with him. He was pretty cool. I bet that cat has never had to pay for a beer in forever.

I agree on Travis, when I would sit in with Johnny's band we would play about 3-4 songs and we would play vibrator by TM but the drummer couldn't stand that song. I play it with a couple other bands but the song sounds like a broken record. I could teach anyone how to play it.

Travis has his place with the college kids and pulling in $3500 per gig, but no, that ain't Cajun. His family has a Cajun band, that's how he got into it, he's actually a great fiddle player.
