 Hull Suggestions
Okay guys. I need some help deciding on what to do next with my rig. Currently running a 27HP GDSD (about 50 hours on the motor) on a 15' G3. I know this hull is not made for a mud motor, but I was working with what I could afford at the time of purchase.
Trying to decide on keeping the motor, ditching the hull and getting either a 1660 or 1754.. Or selling the whole rig and upgrading to 35hp (going to GT this time for sure) and a new hull.
Thoughts?? I'm thinking the 35hp is the way to go, but obviously the more expensive of the two options.. I really like that motor I have, it seems to be dependable. Just doesn't have much upgrade options and not much low end torque for the "hole shot"

 Re: Hull Suggestions
That is gonna be up to you man. That motor will push a longer boat probably better than the 15footer, but a 35 would push it better. There is plenty of mods available for the kohler though, they just aren't as popular so you don't see them as much.
If you can afford to do so, sell your whole package, and buy what you want. If you're strapped for cash, then get your new hull, and at a later date you can add performance parts to yours or sell it and buy a new one.

 Re: Hull Suggestions
I had a 27 GDSD on a 17x42 Welbilt - slick bottom, square chine and quite light hull @ only about 350 to 400 lbs - it was only 90 gauge and with cross braces so it had some nasty hooks in the bottom bought it right though @ 500.... 3 blade GD prop and right hull will help "hole shot"...
But she could bump 30mph in the shallows and toted a load well....
Thoughts --- go big --- if not go square chine not round, slick not ribbed bottom, avoid add-ons like gun boxes to keep weight down.....
