 What luck!!
Been carrying some bad azz loads with my boat lately!! Well couple weeks ago thought i would take it to hoyt to check things out to be safe!! Had a intake with a small leak not nothing to tare everything apart for!! But did find my clutch was going bad, so we changed it!! Well went out on a trip and just didnt seam right with the clutch but no big deal!! Next week end we went out and on the way in band in my clutch broke so had to take it easy on way end no big deal we was finish for the night!! Well since i had a little crank case gasket start to leak we decided to go ahead and get evrything taken care of!! By the way 105 hrs on a stage 3 crank case gasket aint bad!! Hoyt went ahead a tore her apart and the dam screen for my oil pump was it the bottom!! Vibrasion made it come of so it was ruuninf sucking oil 2 inches of the bottom!! Good thing i was full of oil or kaboom again!! It hit my connecting rods 5 times but still ok!! For a brand new clutch to go out well all i can say it thank god it went out cause it wouldn't have made it home!! The thing is with all my bow fishing equipment and people my motor will only turn 350o to 3600 rpms and run about 23-25 mph!! TYhat mother is under a heavy strain!! For now on i'm gonna run a 23 prop to fish with to make more rpms!! For some reason a bs motors have a hard time at those rpms under a strain!! But after all she is still alive and kicking and now has some stainless valves to boot!!

 Re: What luck!!
Good deal. Now that this is done, You think for anyone who has a heavily internal modded motor; would it be a good idea once a year to pop the case cover off the back to look over a few things? I think it could be a good thing. Preventive maintenance helps....

 Re: What luck!!
Thats a little excessive PM, you would expect to button up and run and only break it open if there was a problem.

 Re: What luck!!
Good save man.
I agree about the RPM range. I craked my block at just over 3000 RPM....only time the motor ever tuned over 4K was when i put it on Willits boat and i bumped 5200 for about 2-3 minutes. I recon it due to the torque curve sitting right in that range.

 Re: What luck!!
I hear ya DB8. I dont like working on chit all the time, But the more somethign is modified the more prone it is to breaking... I see it with my Yota truck. Once a year I have to rebuild the front axle, because water will find its way inside! Anyways. Good find Big head....
