How much are valves shimmed and with what, is there something to buy or do you make your own.

I have a 35 gdsd and I wouldn't mind a little valve float protection.

Do you have mods that allow your engine to rev 4350+ RPM with the prop engaged running in the water? If not dont bother.

no mods, but I do run 4200 rpms in the water, If I hit something and the prop comes out of the water. might turn more than 4350

not unless you disconnected the gov, you won't. Also, how old is your prop. Is it a cdi motor? 4200 seems a tad bit high for a stock motor and prop.

Could be a hot motor, my old one ran 4380 with just an exhaust.

Hot! not sure about that. no fuel pump either. I get about 27 to 28 mph at 4150 to 4200 rpm. I just worry about overreving it if I would hit a stump or something. motor only has 20 hrs and prop is like new.

If your running 4200 with a good prop on a stock motor, I'd say you've got yourself a hot one. Thats a good thing. Your motor has a governor on it that does not allow it to over rev. You have nothing to worry bout. Just go run that biatch.

Oh, and the fuel pump thing is a joke. I don't know what crawled up ol DB8's ass, but he's having a lot of fun with it. I do run one, but I'm silly like all the rest of them. It's not needed... If it is thought to be needed, you have other problems.
