I was runnin today and my prop hit a stump runnin WOT and instantly my 25 kohler started runnin really bad! its harded to start, coughs black smoke, and is making all kinda bad grinding sounds inside and squealing which i think is tha f***ed up bushings. and once started it dont wana stay running. what could be wrong here? im expecting the worse!!

Damn Mark, that sux man. What is making noise, the shaft or the motor? Could have bent the shaft and the motor doesn't have the power to turn it. If its in the motor, I dunno. Pull the valve covers off and see if anything is broken. Hope you can get it figured out.

yea sux bad and here it is almost huntin season! the sqealing i think is the bushings that suddeny messed up. but the motor is making some grinding sounds and just sounds bad! the shaft is not noticably bent, but a lil could be alot here.

dang that sucks, i wonder if you hit the one that un-transomed my old outboard? It kinda sounds like a valve problem bit idk how that would have caused it. If the shaft is bent and its in a bind since its directly connected to the engine that may be why its harder to start? hope you figure it out before teal season!

well i just went out and fired it up again and now it is purring nicely!! . . . i dont understand!!

if you do get to checkin' under the valve covers, don't crank it right after you button everything back up. wait a few hours or you'll really have some problems! the hydraulic lifters have to bleed down.

what about shearing the key way?
