I took a call today where someone is trying to rip old people off stating they won the lottery. All you have to do is send 685 dollars to claim your winnings. We all know this is a scam and usually hang up. Well this old timer told me that he told the foreign speaking person that he did not have the money right now but could have in a day or so. The scamming witch gave him a telephone number and told him to call her back. Well this old timer tells his wife about their winnings and she tells him its a scam and calls the Sheriffs Office. Well I got the number and called it and low and behold I think they were dumb enough to give the old man a real live number. Upon speaking to the scammer she tell sme that I have the wrong number. I told her to get a real job and to leave the elderly alone. Well later I decide to call back and the same lady answers the phone and I could hear her washing dishes and a baby crying in the background. So I tell her to leave the elderly alone and she puts her husband on the phone and he tells me that he is screwing my mom and the United States. So all night now we have been calling him asking for our lottery winnings and he cusses us out. Would you guys like to have some fun??? Call the number below and ask for your winnings. We have been calling and laughing our heads off. This is the kind of people that target our parents/grandparents and take advantage of them. My supervisor told me that my constant nonsense is finally paying off. Thanks for your help. One of our K9 guys called and they heard his pooch barking in the background and thats why they are telling us to f.. the doggie. Haha that is so funny.

I started calling at 4am, but just getting VM.

I'm thinking they generated a bunch of leads/hopefuls yesterday and are hanging around with this number. I'm sure its a prepaid phone but who knows they old timer was convinced that he won and they may have dropped their guard. They had the phone off for a while during the night but like J said its now going to Vm. I bet its early there right now but they will be back up. I gave some day shift coworkers the number and they are going to start calling later. Thanks again

I like having long drawn out conversations with telesales people too. I try to get them completely off topic and start talking about stuff they didn't call for.

You all need to becareful calling that number. There are 876 numbers that will charge money to your phone bill.

Keep calling at $50.00 a call who laughing.I don't know started to dial then the thought hit me possibly charge back from phone company.

Is there anyway to find out if the call cost money? I do not want to get anyone jammed up with big money calls. These people are truly running a scam on elderly and I wanted to wear them down to keep them off older folks phone. If anyone can find out post up asap so we can put the caution flag up and get the green flag back out. Randy

I'm not saying that calling that number will cause a charge on your bill. I know there was a scam a while back with a recording coming from another number telling you to call a certain 876 number. That scam would charge your phone bill.
This scam may be a bit different. Hence the reason for targeting the elderly and trying to get info from them.

This may help but then again, it's ran by the Gov't.

If that 876 number is a charge back number, guess the laughs will be on their part, when they collect their money.
