My 32 PD, prolly 2007-2008 year model, is backfiring when I let off on the throttle after running at WOT. So far, the engine is all stock, no mods or adjustments.

I read the other backfiring thread and wanted to try and set my fuel mixture screw. The only adjustment screw I can see is the one that limits the top end speed.

There is a fat aluminum disc that looks like it could be hiding the mixture screw under it, it's at the base of the carb on the tiller handle side.

Didn't wanna poke a hole in something that needs to stay there, but if my mixture screw is stowed away in there I got no problem goin thru it.

Poke, or pass?

Like caddo said on the other thread, I don't believe the 32 carb has any air adjustments. Lots of people have switched to the 36 carb to get these features and a slightly larger bore (i think).

If you have not done a thourough tune up, I would recommend that. Take the carb apart, clean it, check the float. Check your valves, spark plugs and gap, etc... Check exhaust for leaks... All I can think of right this second, but that should keep you busy for a bit.

check your valve lash and set it to .005

No adjustments on that carb.

Things to try- Run 93 octane, autolite 3923 plugs gapped 0.035, check/set your valve lash at 0.005. Take the foam pre-filter off your air filter if you havent already (assuming its not a Donaldson filter). Replace the stock filter with a K&N to allow more air flow.
