 Trucks opinions!!
I'm looking for a new truck!! I want to go with diesal but got a lot of mixed reviews!! If i buy a diesal it will be a used truck!! I dont think reverse and neutral is needed wouldnt want it to break on me!!That was a joke but i am confused with the truck thing!! I really want a F 250 but the 6.5 or trouble from what i'm told!! Leaning toward a dodge but no dealerships has any!!

 Re: Trucks opinions!!
i have a 06 f250 with the 6.0, ive had a few issues with the truck mainly injectors and the high volume oil pump seal. the worst thing with the f250's is the egr (exhaust gas recirculation)it will eat injectors all day long especially if you have a programmer on it. once i got rid of that on my truck it has been good to me so far. i run a bullydog pmt programmer and it will flat roll out. IMO there is not truck that looks as good as the f250. the only dealings ive had with the new ford diesels is where i work, they have a few and seem to be pretty good trucks so far and they are trying to get rid of all the new duramax's they have to get em. no im not a chevy hater either, just saying the ones the company has stay in the shop more than we get to use em for work.

 Re: Trucks opinions!!
I almost bought a diesel when I got my F-150 but the cost of one kept me from buying one and up until now, the F-150 has served my needs perfectly. I've towed over 10k with it a few times and pull an 8k boat regularly and it has performed perfectly. So far I've put 83k miles on it and haven't had any major issues with it yet.
If I were to go diesel, I think I would either go Chevy or Dodge but not Ford since they had some major issues with the 6.0 engine and the new one hasn't been out long enough to prove it's reliability. The Cummins in the Dodge is probably the diesel engine you can get but the rest of the truck isn't. So overall I think that the Chevy, Duramax (isuzu made), allison transmission combo is the way to go. I have 5 friends with Dodge 2500 and 3500 trucks and 3 have had their transmission go in under 100,000 miles and were turned down for warranty saying they abused their trucks which I'm sure they didn't. The two that haven't had issues have manual transmissions.

 Re: Trucks opinions!!
I drive a ford f150 myself with the v8 regular gas. All of the farmers around here that have trucks that last the longest with the least amount of problems is dodge. Just a little help.

 Re: Trucks opinions!!
The Ford 6.4 has issues that are being worked, I drive an 08 duramax and haven't had a lick of trouble with it since i bought it though i have taken the DPF filter off and and have straight exhaust, the DPF is a real cut back on fuel economy and HP. The new dodges with the 6.7, haven't heard good news about them, buddy of mine just sold his cause wife was driving it and it shut down on her and they coulnd't even get it to turn over, stil in shop and that has been over a month ago, they have alot of problems with their DPF system, it'll back way up and shut the turbo down with suit. I too did my research on my trucks before purchasing a diesel and found that the duramax was my best bet. Also if you buy an 07.5 to newer i'll be the first to tell you that these trucks are not made to putt around now-a-days they need to be ran hard from time to time to clean the exhaust system out. Thats where most of the vehicles now have problems.

06-07 classic GMC/Chevy with the LBZ or a F=250 with a 7.3
Thats the only way I personally would go

 Re: Trucks opinions!!
x2 on what brad said...
the 05-07 ford 6.0 can be a good motor with a egr delete and arp head studs
the 6.4 can be good also with a dpf delete and spartan tune.

 Re: Trucks opinions!!
I'm still rollin in a 2000 F250 4x4, 6 spd manual, with 255k on it. Only thing I've had to do is replace worn out suspension parts and tires. She might not be the pertiest girl around, but I guaran-damn-ty ya, she'll pull ya house down if needed. Ya just can't beat the old 7.3, imo.

 Re: Trucks opinions!!
you can get an 08 terry but as stated you can do the delete options for under a grand, I did! But if you get a newer model truck like that without doing mods, i wouldn't suggest putting around in it, they are made to run, keep the exhaust system clean and you'll be fine

'08 F-250 6.4l runnin' DPF-R delete programmer w/ AFE Cat / DPF replacement pipe.
6.4l Power Stroke Do's & Don'ts
* Don't buy an '08 Job1 6.4l * Do request a carfax report * Do make sure the ECU software is the most current version * Do add DPF delete kit * Don't run any other programmer except Spartan * just cause you can leave a red light or merge into traffic with 40#'s of boost, DON'T!

 Re: Trucks opinions!!
The dodge 5.9 is the best diesel motor out there. Followed by the ford 7.3. The only problem with the 7.3 is finding one with out a crap load of miles.

 Re: Trucks opinions!!
I just bought an 07 Duramax with the LBZ about 4 months ago and I am still enjoying the hell out of it. They run the Ford 6.4 at our work one has 9X,XXX miles on it and the other only has around 20,000 but they have not had any problems with them. Like was said before I would stay away from the 6.0 Ford and the new Dodge 6.7. This is just my opinion from talking to people that own them and what I have read. Between the 6.4 Ford and the 6.7 Dodge I would go with the Ford all day. A guy I work with had a 6.7 shutdown on him with 1,300 miles and they ended up giving him a new truck because they could never get it running again.
