My 05 Dodge 3500 was the best pulling truck ever but it spent its whole life in the shop. 4 long blocks 36 injectors and 2 injector pumps in 24000 miles is not a good truck IMO.

So an 03' and up dodge sucks? I beg to differ, Ive owned several diesels and I promise you they get worked. A 32' trailr aint shit  FTR, Ive owned and worked a 6.9 Ford, a 7.3, 7.3 powerstroke,6.0 powerjoke,6.4 Ford, 01 24 valve cummins, 06 24valve Cummins, and 6.5 Chevy. The 6.4 was my dads but Ive hauled alot of hay with it.

Know several guys that own 12 valves and those are some damn good motors. To say they have no power is an assinine statement.

Dude you are comparing apples to oranges! Comparing a diesel that was made 20 years ago to a diesel made today? No, they dont have to power. But to say they werent poweful is dumb.

Post Re: Trucks opinions!!
yall can sit here and argue about which truck is best and whatever but it all comes down to EVERYONE of em has problems and you have to do certain things to each one to get rid of or atleast help the problems they all have. i have a 6.0 powerjoke as u put it. i dont haul the loads yall do but it does a dayum good job for what i use it for. once i got rid of the egr and put the delete kit on no problems so far. they all make good power either way. i think it all comes down to what days the parts and the motors were built, i will almost guarantee the parts were built on a friday. if ya ever have something else go out ask the mechanic to look up the part that broke usually they can trace it down to the day it was made or atleast thats what my mechanic told me.

That guy had some of the information right about the diesesl.. Especially the the Dmax. LB7's have had injector issues, (dude to lack of fiel filtration, that shouldnt be a problem). LLY's ran hot and had injector harness problems. The LBZ has the issues resolved..

Cummins have been a hoss in the diesel world for a long ass time.. Heck the 03+ 5.9s are a Beast.. IDK what your saying about losing injectors... (its probably like the LB7 dmax not having a low micron fuel filter).. I know many guys running these engones and love them. It is hard to beat a High Pressure Common Rail injection system that precisely gets 80-90% of the fuel injected to burn.. Hell Slambin's 6.7 is a hoss too. DPF/ EGR delete and a mild Smarty tune and I know it has more power than a 5.9. Both dodge and GM use the Bosch CP3 injection pump to a HPCR.

We can all argue abotu this shit, but usuallt the eralier years of a new product will have issues that need to be resolved. Keep your vehicle maintained, to the best of your ability and you will have less breakdowns in the future..

Post Re: Trucks opinions!!
Well this is my .02 I own a 97 ford f250 7.3 with over 250000 miles camp truck bought from new and no problems except for alternators and a starter got about 12 mpg, my opinion the best ford ever made,I did own a f250 2006 with a 6.0 had 84000 got about 14 mpg and it was turning into a nightmare at 80000 miles, injectors, egr, oil pump, head gasket that you have to remove the cab to change $10000 later wouldn't warranty cause I blocked the EGR when it started screwing up, I had changed the exhaust and lifted but the 6.0 I would run from, the 6.4 don't know but heard similar story's, just bought a 2010 dodge with 6.7 and I am not a dodge person this thing is very nice, I went this way because of the engine, the new fords which is there third engine in four years, scares me, Gm is just to plain but the engine is good but they added the extra tank for diesel additive which you have to buy every 3000 miles, ford is also doing now. Picking out everything and researching them all I ended with a dodge.

Post Re: Trucks opinions!!
The 2011 Dmax (LMM) and the 2011 ford 6.7 both have A diesel Exhaust Fluid tank (urea) that inject Urea before the DPF to breake down the particulates and it also suppose to have the engine REGEN less. Regens are bad for the engine because the EGT gets really high to clean/ burn out the particulates in the DPF. The Dodge 6.7 currently dont have in in the 2500/3500 models but the 4500+ cummins have the DEF on board. This is all government mandated for emission. Supposedly the government wants diesels to have 0 particulate and 0 NOX emissions for 2011 + engines.

the best deal out there is going to be a 6 litter ford. the engine has issues that are very well known. it has driven the price way down on these trucks. that being said it is the best body of the three. is a better running gear than a gm and a better trans than a dodge.

it can be a very reliable engine. the fixes are out there and work they seem a little expensive but the money you save on the purrchase will way off set the price.

do the egr delete and leave the programers off and you will have fixed most of the problems. the motor is strong to start with. dont get caught in all the hipe, leave it stock.

6.4 can be a very good motor. the dpf delete will wake it up and get good mileage. but its a newer truck and may have warranty left. dont do thhe delete until out of warranty.

7.3 if you can find one that is not beat to $hit with a million miles on it, thats a good truck. just remember its going to be almost 10 years old or older to start with.

dodges will cost a little more but you will have to deal with the body. they just cant seem to get the fit and finish up. leaking seals rust noise etc.... if you do the dodge get a stick. probally the best trans out there, but it can have one issue. 5th gear backing off the shaft.

now gm. i just cant make my self look at one much less own one. the "great allison transmission" yah it has one and it sounds good but they break also. and when it does hold on to your a$$, you will feel like someone shoved a hot poker up there when you find out how much it will cost to fix. and when the d-max bounces on the front end for a while and beats the $hit out of the independent front end you get to rebuild that too.

what does EGT, DPF, EGR stand for?

how can i make my truck go faster?

will mods void my warranty?

which mods should i get?

are mods reliable?

what size fuel line should i use for my auxillary tank?
