Post Stick Steering
Anyone here run a stick steering rig? When I get my new motor whatever it will be I'm thinking a stick steering would make my net life easier. I have seen the Ky boys stick rigs which are 1/4 cable and some pulleys. I'm looking at the same system or getting a cable for the stick. Any info or pics on this set up would be appreciated. I'm looking at mounting the stick at or near my front deck where I work off 90 percent of the time.

Lots of the commercial fisherman here have a steering wheel and console mounted in the front of the boat for that reason.

A little OT but i always thought that would be a better setup for MM than a console with a wheel. I would think you could turn it quicker with a stick than a wheel.

almost all the jet rigs are stick steer with a hotfoot throttle. Sit up front so you can see and keep the azz end higher. Seems to take a little getting used to, but works.

PD rigged a stick steering rig for Gov. Mike Foster..... it was pretty sweet. If I ever wanted steering on a MM it would definitely be stick steering.

Front steering is the only way to rig a boat for commercial fishing IMO. Had my skiff rigged that way but with a wheel. Puts you right up in the action.

You know I gave up many years ago trying to describe to someone what its like in the flooded basin area in the spring when it comes to snakes. Unless you experience it in person you can not understand it in any way. Folks can't actually picture a snake on every limb and believe it.
