I'm actually working on a SaaS (cloud database) module to help coordinate duck hunter locations in Indian Bayour WMA so we don't trample over each other. I'm trying to get La. Wildlife and Fisheries to support it with their enforcement. You will be able to view a map online showing your intended location on any given day. It will track how often you select a location which will be radius specific, though I haven't figured out yet what the radius will be, so if more than one hunter selects a location it will permit the one least often associated with that spot to be selected. You will have to register your boat numbers and hunter's license. Other details are confidential. But it would be nice to be able to know that 4 people will not show up for the same spot in the morning. It will be so much more efficient than what we have now....everyone racing to their spots.

I would appreciate your input into this solution. It is not intended to control where you hunt, but it will simply geographically disburse hunters in a fair way. This would be preferable, don't ya'll think, to lottery hunts in fixed blinds, which is what this might come down to if we're not more careful how we interact with one another when we hunt this area.

Only reason people wouldnt do this is because you no longer have to scout or anything just say I clicked first its mine.

Public land first come first serve man. WLF rather catch a guy doin stuff than coordinate this. Public land isn't going to be run like a hunting club. it all boils down to ethics, but not many people have that anymore, so good luck with this Internet sign in sheet for public land!

So all I have to do is watch where you hunt and claim that spot the next day.

Or not watch at all just look at the internet see where they bunch up on the map and go there never set foot in a boat to scout, never walk a inch to do anything. If you were in a club it would be a great idea and all and i know it takes place on leases around us but not for public land.

Let's face it, the days of that one spot nobody knows about are gone. I've probably been within 100 yards of ever inch of Indian Bayou WMA in my lifetime, so there isn't anywhere I don't know about. With map technowlogy everyone know too. So we got to figure a smart way to use this resource the best way we can. Some of us try and some of us bitch at trying. I'd rather try to help.

We tried to make it mandatory in the accounting dept. I head up to make direct deposit mandatory. We couldn't do it. Guess why? 40% of employees don't have a checking account, and you can't make them get one.

I'd be more open to the designated lottery area, and if you wanted a different spot after daylight, if no one was there then you can have it.

The system will be used for deer hunting too.

When you have the ear of very influential people in La WF and the commission things get done so don't be surprise if next year you begin getting confirmation for your deer and duck spot....this is very highly probable.

Refinements to the system should include how often an applicant should be able to secure the same spot. If no one else selects it then it's yours again. And, you may be able to secure a spot for a maximum successive days , but not sure how many would be fair.

Really dont care for this whole idea, but just outta curiosity,how many hrs heads up would u get on your confirmed spot? Would you have to go to bed wondering where the hell you hunting in the morning,or would you know,say...like the day before. I have lil kids and i would love for them to grow up hunting the same areas i did,but i really think they need to learn to scout and put in the same hard work,and learn from experience like i did and was taught. One thing thats wrong with the younger generation today is that they tend to be lazy,and this whole idea would make them more lazy!Just my .02
