 Question on Fish Finder?
When I received delivery of my 1750HD Gator Trax, they mistakenly put a sliding transducer bracket on it. So know that I have it, I've been thinking of putting one on but will only plan on using it to know my depth. So my question is this, do you guys think that a fish finder will be able to give me a correct depth reading through muck until it reaches hard bottom?
When I scout for spots, I find myself constantly putting the push pole in the water to see if I can hunt out of the boat. The problem is that here in the Everglades, you have to go through about 2 feet of growth before you make it to the hard bottom and I don't know if a fish finder is capable of this.

 Re: Question on Fish Finder?
im no expert, but i would think the sending unit would see the thick mud as a bottom and give false reading

 Re: Question on Fish Finder?
this is how i see it. you put one on and try it. it says its ok to jump on in. you do, and find out its lieing to you, and your neck deep. the next time it says " jump in, its ok, im not lieing " i bet you check it first with the pole first.
ide say stick with what you know works. wont cost anything , wont get ripped off the boat or ripped off stolen and wont lie to you.
