 Excel F4 with a 36PD
Well here it is y'all... Took the GPS with me to the lake again and finally got some smooth water to clock it. 29.5 MPH w/ just me (185lbs), 12 gallons, and a few small things, icechest, rope, pushpole, etc... 25.0 MPH w/ three men, 185, 300, 230lbs, 12 gallons and gear for building a blind, drills, chainsaw, a few 2x4's, icechest, and other little stuff. Overall I guess I'm pretty impressed with the top speeds. Didn't think I would get 25 with all the junk we had in it. This is about the same load we have when we go hunting.

Re: Excel F4 ....finally got it!!
Well next time I'm out, I'll clock it on the GPS and clock it for ya. Other than that I can tell ya it turns on a dime, will tear thru water lillys and that water hysnith crap with ease. The floor layout is also kick ass. Plenty of room to move around and store all your crap. It's got the built in 12 gallon tank in the front, which I think helps out big time when it comes to ride quality and top end. It came with the led lights on the front and boy are they bright as shit. Went out to caddo a few days ago and put in at uncertain and rode 30 miles according to the GPS and only burnt 4 gallons, which is good in my opinion for what we put it thru. It handled all that mud and grass crap out there pretty good. I futched up and sprayed mud all over my ass when I had it In reverse and you can bet I won't let that happen again. Other than that it's a smooth ride to me, but this is the first mud boat I have ever been in/owned....

 Re: Excel F4 with a 36PD
Yeah I'm already looking at getting the 8" extension. It's almost like I'm hanging out of the the boat when I turn. Yeah the screen name is original, but nothing good hit me when I signed up.

 Re: Excel F4 with a 36PD
I have a Prodrive Tiller Extension sitting here that I took off my PD when I took the motor off of my hunt deck boat. Would be willing to sell at less than new price. How much are they new?

 Re: Excel F4 with a 36PD
I definately had to put an extension on mine. I am using the 12 inch extension and it works great! I have an 1860 and get the exact same speeds as you do. Great boats!

 Re: Excel F4 with a 36PD
Lookin' at the pics I see the mounting plate for the hydraulic trim sticking way up over the inner "transom" the way you have it mounted. If the tiller and your hand is over that thing and you whack a stump I see you possibly breaking some fingers or worse. As a suggestion, I would find some other way to mount it.
I ran a Gator Trax with hunt deck and 36 PD with hydro trim. I lengthened the hydraulic hoses and control wires and mounted that thing inside the boat. You could do the same. Word to the wise.
Nice lookin' rig.

 Re: Excel F4 with a 36PD
My 1860 Excel was in the neighborhood of 10k, maybe a hair less. I think my motor was around 7500 because I got hydro trim and reverse and the motor painted camo. They are well worth the money spent I promise! I'll try and post some pics of how I have my cylinders mounted.

 Re: Excel F4 with a 36PD
hey idabilly... yeah i learned the hard way on that trim mount... bought broke my hand clean off when i hit bottom. we ended up moving the bracket down on the trim unit and cutting off the top curved piece on the mount bracket.... best thing I have ever done to it... ..Buck hunter... for the setup i have your looking @ 16,000-17,000$... thats the price down in baton rouge at boats unlimited. ... duramax.. will that 12" extension let you sit in your actual seat, you know where the base mount is? cause right now i have to sit on my battery box lid.

 Re: Excel F4 with a 36PD
Correct. The 12 inch extension puts the tiller at the perfect place for me.
