 everyones ideas please
alright guys, my CNC mill is almost completed, and I want to start making some mm parts. Im gonna set this up as a seperate business (dont worry ima sponsor the site), and i need some input on different parts yall think i could sell. I can machine 3D parts to a maximum size of 20x9x14 LxWxH. Any parts can have names etc. machined into them also. A few different ideas ive thought of are governor lock off plates, fuel pump block off, valve covers, nameplates, and a plate that covers the plastic behind the choke knob/ignition. I could also shave pistons with it. Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks, Rod
hopefully i will get at least a few useful responses before this gets n*ggered

 Re: everyones ideas please
You could make all the GTR owners a real nice billet TOOLBOX. Just kidding. Thats cool you want to get into that. How bout a mikuni cover that can be personalized.

 Re: everyones ideas please
Don't really think you would need a cnc machine but...An aluminum cover that attatches to the fan shroud on the pd's to hang over and cover an aftermarket carb setup. Rain/debris cover. I'm sure they could use something on the horizontal motors also, but I think bps already makes something.
Those fancy handles like ddm has on his gtr to lift the motor up...

 Re: everyones ideas please
Tons of stuff could be made. To bad Bayouboy fell off the face of the www because he missed his calling as a mechanical engineer / designer. His design wereand still are highly sought after but I don't think he was interested in mass producing them for sale. Those lift handles that actually were user friendly and worked by giving you better leverage. The tiller arm reverse lever mechanism that pulled the reverse pin so you didn't have to turn around, bend over or take you hands off the tiller. You could not keep those on the shelf IMO. PD didnt want anything to do with it and could be had for less than 2 bills as compared to the grand for hydro. Although it was probably overbuilt for its purpose, Preston cut that stuff out, shaped and built it with hand tools. Some custom PD skegs which DO help you get down into the mud and bottom better. As mentioned, custom carb cover / protectors. Mikuni carb brakets to actually lock the carb on tight and solid.

 Re: everyones ideas please
i dont know why they not using the harley style cv carbs. they have tapped mounting holes in the front, that would be much easier to secure than just a rubber flange with a hose clamp

 Re: everyones ideas please
I've been wanting to do like a bike brake lever backwards for my gd. it would be much easy-er to throttle with an index finger than a pinky. Maybe I'll draw it and send it to you. I have a cnc but it only does wood. What program are you running?

 Re: everyones ideas please
easiest/cheapest way to do that is cut off 8" of your handle, weld a 8" section of 7/8" tube to the end, then use a regular bmx lever and grip. thats what i did on my LT
