 13 yo dies
13 year old son of family friends got shot by another 13 year old friend while looking at or playing with a deer rifle last night. the family hunts and the boys seem to be famillar with guns. but the rifle was loaded in the house and it happened.
just a reminder to unload the guns. you just never know. no matter how much respect kids show for guns things happen.

 Re: 13 yo dies
That sucks. Just as most of you that have kids, mine has great gun safety. But he can't do anything like this if he can't get into the gun cabinet. I hide the keys in different spots all the time. If this would happen to my kids, it's me that would have to live with the guilt of not securing my guns where they can't get to them.
Sad to hear this.

 Re: 13 yo dies
Prayers sent...
I recently took a friend of mine who is 25 years old and a new hunter to our hunting lease in Georgia so he can shoot his first buck. The second day we were there, I decide to inspect his gun and found a round in the chamber while we were in the camper. Needless to say, I was shocked and explained to him that that's how people get killed and if I see that again, it would be the last time I go hunting with him.
I have a rule that has always worked well for me, my gun is the last thing I load when I get into my blind / stand and the first thing to get unloaded when I'm done before I pack anything else up.
