Post Rev Limiter Install on a PD
I know this topic has been beaten to death, and I have read the various posts. However the wiring on my motor is a mess because of all of the additions. Regular to remote, reverse to hydro etc. I no longer have a control box just a fist full of wires that are crimped and shrink wrapped. I attached a picture below but they are sideways (not sure why they are not on my computer). Wiring is not my specialty. Any advice on how to tackle this? I have already installed the Rev Limiter in the Gun Box and I have run the wore to the to the area of the connections, but I am not sure where to go from here. This is a quote from DB8 on the topic.

Black to Ground (8mm starter mount bolts is a good place)
Green into the Black wire on the harness (control wire to short the coils)
The other wire to the grey wire on the harness.

Black to ground- I am assuming I will need to install a round ground plug to the black wire and attach to the 8mm bolt on the starter.
Green to Black- I am assuming I will have to cut the shrink wrap off of the existing Black wire, tie the rev limiter green wire to the existing black wire going towards the boat, attach a crimp to the black wire to the engine and shrink wrap?
Other to Grey- This is a red wire on my Rev limiter (4600 BPS)-

Not sure the best way to take apart the existing connections and then incorporate the rev limiter into the crimps and connections. Any advice?? Thx in advance!

I have been running all season with out one, but I figured I would finally put it on. Frankly I have only needed it once when I slid in some mud in a tight air boat trail into a thick bed of cattails, and I was high and dry. This was right after I put the Mikuni on, and while I was trying to dig out, I looked down at the tach and I noticed the RPM's at 5600!!! I was lucky she didn't blow! I have been much more careful since then.

I would suggest pulling the cowling off and tag in the wires at the coils.

Black to Ground (8mm starter mount bolts is a good place)
Green into the Black wire on the harness (control wire to short the coils)
The white wire to the grey wire on the harness.( fuel silineod wire)

Hope this helps

I have been hunting for 4 days straight, and I haven't had a chance to deal with this Rev Limiter. Thx for the input. Any other ideas? Thx.

please explain the red wire you are mentioning. Or maybe post a pic.

I'm assuming everyone is talking about the rev limiter from BPS. They are using a 4 wire feed now instead of a 3 like the older one's had. Sometimes they will have the red wire exposed, & sometimes it's the white wire. Whichever wire is exposed & cut the same length as the black & green wires, that is the one to use. Not really sure why it comes both ways, but it does.

As already mentioned above,

GREEN to Diodes (wire going to coils) ***make it possible to unplug it***

BLACK to Ground (8mm starter bolt)

RED or WHITE to any wire that is ONLY HOT WHEN IGNITION IS ON

The reason you should hook up the green wire like that is because it will enable you to simply unplug it when the box goes bad. YES, it is gonna go bad eventually, and it's never when the boat's on the trailer. One important thing to do is to mount the rev box where it will stay dry & not get beat around too much by vibrations, etc. I always mount mine on the transom in a 4"x4"x4" electrical junction box with a foam gasket sealed lid. Pick it up @ Lowes for under $10. Drill hole in the bottom just big enough to feed the wires thru, then silicone it up after install. ;)
