Re: Rev Limiter Install on a PD
I'm assuming everyone is talking about the rev limiter from BPS. They are using a 4 wire feed now instead of a 3 like the older one's had. Sometimes they will have the red wire exposed, & sometimes it's the white wire. Whichever wire is exposed & cut the same length as the black & green wires, that is the one to use. Not really sure why it comes both ways, but it does.
As already mentioned above,
GREEN to Diodes (wire going to coils) ***make it possible to unplug it***
BLACK to Ground (8mm starter bolt)
RED or WHITE to any wire that is ONLY HOT WHEN IGNITION IS ON
The reason you should hook up the green wire like that is because it will enable you to simply unplug it when the box goes bad. YES, it is gonna go bad eventually, and it's never when the boat's on the trailer. One important thing to do is to mount the rev box where it will stay dry & not get beat around too much by vibrations, etc. I always mount mine on the transom in a 4"x4"x4" electrical junction box with a foam gasket sealed lid. Pick it up @ Lowes for under $10. Drill hole in the bottom just big enough to feed the wires thru, then silicone it up after install.
