Need some suggestions - WTB a mud rig
I am in the market to buy a duck boat this year and I think I have decided on a mud boat and motor. I am very new to the mud rigs and was wanted suggestions from the veterans. Here is typical duck hunting scenario...
Hunt in the Dallas / Ft. Worth area Usually have 3 guys in the boat with 2 dogs 2 - 3 dozen decs, mojo's, bags and guns etc. Run in open water i.e. Ray Roberts (kinda rough chop) but likes to get in the far back fingers Speed is not a huge concern for me but don't want to crawl to the spot Very stumpy conditions Would like a boat blind
What rig and motor would you suggest for me? Thanks in advance and are open for any suggestions.

What brand motor are you lookin at?
I wouldnt go with anything less than a 35 horse motor with all that weight.
A 18x54 with tall sides/ transom and a 3/16 bottom would be my choice for all that.

I'm not sold on a certain brand of motor - my biggest concern is not having reverse.

I'd buy an 1860 or 2060 GDSD w/35GDSD - cause I don't need reverse... viewtopic.php?f=5&t=10674But... This thread is a big rig you might like with reverse and USCG floatation.... viewtopic.php?f=5&t=14177

Re: Need some suggestions - WTB a mud rig
My buddy has a War Eagle which is great for big water but sucks trying to get back in shallows and another buddy has G3 with a tunnel hull and trim. He can get pretty shallow but we still have push and pull - except when the game warden asked us to move 100 yards from the bank.

Re: Need some suggestions - WTB a mud rig
WarEagle 18 foot with a 90hp Mercury with the HydroJackin' plate is what mines buddy ran up there fo years .... he had good luck with that set up 'cause you gots to be able to git 'round in alot of big waters.
The reason that I asked is that you have awready mentioned you gonna be runnin' a big load and you mite be disapointed with a MudMotorMachineThang in that big of waters.
Ifin' you gots some good pockets ...... git you a 18 to a 20 footer that is at least gots a 54 inch bottom dual rig. I personnally ain't driven one ..... but I have seen several of them perform and I would thank that would be the ticket you be lookin' fo.
Good Luck !!!
