Post First mud motor
I got a 14x36 riveted jonboat that ive been using for duck hunting the last two years, but i think its time to upgrade to a mud motor. I mostly run through soft mud (I'll sink mid shin to knee deep in most of it) but sometimes it gets a little tougher. I wanted to get some input from some people with experiece with mud motors as to whether to get a SD or LT. I usually run about 6 miles and it takes around 30 mins. I would like something that would keep me around that run time (or less if possible).

They both will serve the same purpose. Though, the SD will be like driving a outboard on a tiller. Some have a bit more tiller torque that others. A LT has ALOT more than everything.

SD would be easier to drive for your run

Be really carefull in a little boat like that, a mudmotor will tear the shit out of a boat quick.

I havent come across any stumps where i hunt at just a few rocks. I've been lookin at the 23hp MB and the 10hp Copperhead. Thanks for the input.

I have a 16hp GDLT on a 1436 rivited boat and it does really well. I think if you go much more than 16-18hp you'll want to go with a short shaft. anything more will be hard on your boat.. just my 2 cents.
