 My first sinker cypress
I pulled this back in December. Not a huge one but it'll do for my first. I have yet to cut it up. What yall think i should do with it? Cut it into 1"x... or make one long a$$ beam with it? Notice the girdiling mark in the first picture. It was axe chopped no doubt.

 Re: My first sinker cypress
That's pretty cool. What do you want to do with it? You have a house you could add a beam in?
Definitely let it dry in the rough. If you mill it, paint the ends of the boards and stack sticks between them so air can move. Painting the ends will keep them from splitting bad as it dries, it will dry more evenly.
Keep in mind, it takes a year or more for lumber to dry out once milled, you gotta be patient. If you do anything with it while it's not dry and stable, it will crack and split all to sht on you.

 Re: My first sinker cypress
ive got a peice that was cut out of a log at an angle about 1 inch thick. i ends up in a football shape. the worm holes run the lenth of the log so on the angle they look oblong. i have a euro deer skull on it looks great. these slabs make great back boards for fish ducks or like i did the euro mount. if you can save one of the ends to cut you a few you will like them. i bet you could sell some if you got them out.

If you want to get some more I know where plenty of logs are at.
