Post Storing Motor and fuel?
i am putting the boat up for a about 3-4 months, i am getting ready to move and will not be using it. my question is, Fuel and Storage. should i run the fuel out of the Carb and Fuel Seperator? or Just the Carb? or empty the tank and run the fuel system completly dry? and then change the filters on the seperator and the in-line filter went ready to hit the water again
thanks Lenny

put 3 or 4 capfulls of seafoam in the tank, run it for a few minutes and youll be fine. it will keep the fuel good

If you run a quick connect make sure you drain the fuel line from the tank to the quick connect....the fuel will eat through your lines...even with Sea Foam...happened to me last year.

X 3. On the Seafoam. Or, you can go with the marine Stabil. It's some good chit too. I switched over from Seafoam to marine Stabil. I started using it over a year ago on my outboard and lately it's been sitting up for 2-3 months at a time. It fires up, no prob at all. I always use the long-period storage rate. It depends how you have everything rigged up to determine your storage method. On my go-devil I run Stabil all the time and run the gas out if I'm not going to run it for a few months. On the bass boat i run stabil all the time also, but with no disconnects I fill the tank to the top so the tank cant breathe much. You want as little air space as possible in tanks where ethanol is present. I change the water separator out at the beginning of the season on the bass boat and at every oil change on the go-devil.

i have a regular tank with a quick Disconnect at the tank, then to a primer bulb, to a Fuel/Water Seperator, then to the inline fuel filter to carb, i was thinking about disconnecting the tank dumping all the gas out of the tank then run the motor until all the gas was gone
and i alway use Stabil everytime i full up

filter, the stabil should hold the gas for that time.

i love both stabil and seafoam, but they are not interchangable. they do slightly different things. stabil helps with the ethonal and will stablize the gas for a shore time. it has some cleaning effect but nothing like seafoam. seafoam is a cleaner. it will stablize the fuel a little but its best used as a cleaner. ill use it in the beginning of the season to help clean some of the varnish from the carbs and the cyls. stabil from there on. so far this has kept the boat out of the shop for several years. let me qualfy this is on by bay boat and the outboard. but ide say it will work on a lawn mower also.

The best thing you could do is to be sure to drain all the fuel you have, fill up with NON-Ethanol gas and Marine formula stabil. Then take it to the water and run it for 5-10 min to be sure the new fuel has mixed well with the stabil and gotten into the engine. Then park it and unhook the batter or put a battery tender on it. NON-Ethanol fuel and Stabil are key.

just put the gas in the truck and run it out of fuel.

Those using quick disconnects- they are notorious for leaking and you don't need much air leak on these low PSI systems to cause problems.

Yep- I just washed my boat, changed the oil, (man was it dirty!)changed the oil filter, put a can of Sea Foam in the tank and it is running now in the garage. I will lube all of the wires and connections, run everything dry and drop it off for storage until duck season next year. :x

But this time next year I might have a new hull.....

Another thing... Just a question..... Why use marine stabil in a lawnmower engine... Just something I find strange.... Stabil had some issues when they started added shine to reg gas.... It was a gelling agent.. Now they have re-up'd they formula it can be use in this crap we buy as gas...
