Well, finally got to really go run her. No matter how much I tried, when we (me & wife) would hit 33-34 it would begin to porpoise. Even tried gettin wife to ride on the bow & it still bounced. I'm gonna have to figure something out, because I can't even get the rpm's up above 4500 right now. Still got some more work to do, but I'm lovin this boat!!!

Would the longer rake have anything to do with the porpoising? :?:

impressive speeds- especially with two people! What RPM's do you normally run? 4500 seems high already! Congrats man- very nice rig. Report back when you figure out the porpoising issue.

It was 1st trip with the new motor too. Sweet spot with old motor on the GD boat was 4150-4200. The HD 5000 has all the internal mods, so it can turn up higher rpm's. It felt like I probably could've turned it up to around 4800, but about the time I'd hit 33, she bagan to porpoise too bad to find out. Held pretty steady @ 4300-4400 without the bounce, but sure needed to trim up a lil more. Think I'm gonna try puttin a fat weld bead along the transom to see if it'll help.

Thats alot of porpusing if you put someone in the front and it still does it, hey camo you might have to move all your stuff to the front since you have a hell of a motor back there now. Might have to bring out the 45lb. plates that you use to run in the front of your other boat!

Is your hull "raked" out? If so...that'll cause some porpoise issues.

So, when you weld the bead to stop porposing... I assume you weld it width way?

The bottom of his transom is angled. That is what is causing it.

Cool deal. Thanks, Jordy. How thick did you end up going & where did you end up putting em? I know right at the transom, but how far apart?

I would think put 1 on each side farely close to the start of the crimps so they arent disturbing water to the prop. But then again I have never fuked with puttin wedges on a boat.
